I have managed to beat all levels with lots of efforts on some of them but it is beyond me to see the highscore times of most of the hard and insane levels. Seems like although I managed to beat all levels I too am missing something...
Keep on trying. You will beat it sooner or later.
The AI is not really using the supernovas if you go fast enough.
You should play as follows:
Immediately from the start, upgrade your planet, this gives you a head-start in any level and in most levels you do not need to get to a planet first.
From here, send your units continiously to the planet on the top-right of the super nova closest to you, then get the other two small planets near the supernova. You can do this using a steamroller tactic: just continuously spam units into that direction.
If all is well you should have a head-start. Now, even though you have all planets around your supernova, still capture it for a little bonus in units.
Decide who is more dangarous and focus on defense. If you want to attack, steamroll your units into one of the two supernovas to trigger it, following an attack on their base planet. Be careful for an attack of the other color, but at least finish your attack on their main planet to cripple that color. Retreat if necessary or continue attacking the other planets.
Try eliminating one color while still having more planets than the other color. If the other color seems to catch up, fall back and start attacking that color instead.
Keep in mind that if you take the planet of a color, you can colonize it, increasing your spawn count.
You may not get it first try as this tactic is probably new to you, but steam-rolling early is a good way to start. And remember, you can double right-click a planet or super-nova to attack it with everything you've got, then on an empty space double click with the left button every second to effectively steamroll-attack a planet (and capture one that has no owner)
