What are holos?

I dont know if this is obvious but i dont know how to get them

Does it have to do with being online? if so, i cant get online with the itch.io downloadable version, is that a bug?

I'm pretty sure they're an online feature, yeah. I have the itch.io version too and I've never encountered them.

If you use the itch.io app, you can access the online features.

The holos are AI companions representing other players, whose cards you've either returned or stolen.
If you've stolen, they'll be hostile; if you've returned them, they'll be friendly.
