Is this much better than GP2?

I bought Riptide GP2 a while back after remembering enjoying the arcade demo on xbox, but I couldn't really get into it, and as of now I've only played 94 minutes. I just found out today that the xbox game was actually Hydro Thunder, and that apparently GP2 didn't go down so well with too many people, so I'm just curious how does this version fare in comparison?

I think the main selling point of the series is the dynamic water as I tend to love stuff like that in games, the gameplay of GP2 didn't seem particularly too interesting though, and I really disliked the whole "do tricks in a certain order so you never repeat them" style of play.

This game is way better than GP2. I was hesitant to buy Renegade too, but I'm very glad I did. It is in EVERY way MUCH better than GP2.
