Known Issues and Solutions

In the past few weeks we monitored the forums and tried to fix as many of the issues player have as possible. But there are a few issues that constantly come up that have known solutions. We’re making this list to make it easy for player to find these solutions. We’re gonna update this list as we find more solutions to the issues player have.

Game Won’t Launch

• On Mac there is a known issue with Steam Overlay that may freeze the game or prevent it from launching. You can disable it in properties window of the game in Steam Client: Right Click > Properties > Uncheck “Enable the Steam Overlay while in-game”
  
• On Windows, the game sometimes doesn’t properly identify the DirectX APIs and use the one that is not supported by the graphics card. You can force the DirectX 9 API by using the “-force-d3d9” as launch parameters.

Game Crashes

Crashes are usually caused by driver issues or incompatible hardware, and there is not much we can do to fix them. But there are some cases that we see more frequently.

• Sound Device Problem: the game needs a working sound device to work and will crash on launch if you have audio problems. So, make sure that the audio output works properly.
  
• Sometimes the game may crash if you have more than one active playback device, disabling all other playback devices should solve the issue.

7.1 Surround Sound USB Headsets

Some players reported problems with surround sound USB headsets. This is usually a problem with the software that emulates the sound and the issue can be solved by disabling the surround features or using the 3.5mm headphone jack if there is any.

Game just shows a black screen on triple monitor setups

This is an issue with ultra wide aspect ratios (48:9) that is caused by AMD's Eyefinity or Nvidia Surround. Disabling these features should solve the problem.

Mouse Doesn’t show up

This is usually caused by game identifying a gamepad as the active user input and hiding the mouse cursor as a result. This usually happens for HOTAS joysticks. You can disable the gamepad input either in options menu or by passing “-disableGamepad” in launch option.

Not a crash, but I was investigating the church and just had to wait for my head detective to be on the job so I could go arrest the next person in line, but then the "phone call with wife" cutscene hit, there was a time skip, and I "missed my window". I feel like that was not really my fault.

Mission text missing:
The call "Fraud: Office Building" concerning Evelyn Ferrell displays the same text on the officer assignment screen and on the report: "Evelyn Ferrell missed her flight because she mixed up the travel dates. Her contract with Top Adventures clearly stated that payments could be reimbursed only in the customer cancelled the trip in advance, not a month after the fact."

If you are interested, I could translate the game in italian, considering that from what I saw there is still no italian version neither for interface nor subtitles.

Hi! There is a slight bug, I believe it won't require logs, but if it will - just tell me and I will send them.
I use XBOX controller. Whenever I am in the investigation interface and I put every photo in the right order, the pop-up has "Close" button attached to "A" on the controller. But when I press "A", one of the photos on the background is chosen instead. So the only way to close the pop-up is to use the mouse. This thing is minor, but still.

@unclepeyj No problem. Here is another one for you: when I go to the main menu from the screen of choosing vinyl to play, and then try to continue the game from the main menu - I can only see a black screen instead. Forced closing the game fixes it, though.

Well your French version is definately below average, with a bunch of nonsense like "Officers unharmed" translated to "Officers without weapons". I've alway thought that giving cheap Google translation to foreign customers was a huge lack of respect. I've seen enough.

Bug at launch

Everytime I play this game it locks into fullscreen. If I change options to windowed, it will briefly appear windowed then immediately switch back to fullscreen.

- after Boyd wakes up from his coma, roughly 3/4 of all the officers and detectives suffer from a lack of energy. In my case, the initial mission (with a new haircut etc.) had to be done with only 3 more or less awake officers. Is this on purpose?

- maybe only in the German version, I haven't played another language yet: When the city office hands out orders, the deadline is always displayed as the very day the order is given. E.g. the order to having enough Asian officers in the team might be given on 2 August, and the deadline is also displayed as 2 August.
