How do you keep an intern detective? There's always been an incident where they burned the files.

ikr. I keep reloading the game trying to avoid it but I think it is inevitable. even though my interns are 100+

The interns are just an event and they stick for just one day. However... they leave empty job slots afterwards to be used for decent full time detectives.

You could probably edit your save file, and replace one of the standard detectives id with the id of the interns. There's guides for editing your save file.
