Grid 2: The worst game I've ever played
Don't make the mistake of buying this game, I loved GRID 1, it was one of my all time favorite games, so I was absolutely stunned when I found out how bad Grid 2 is, they have eliminated the in car cockpit view, because it wasn't "popular enough" (I guess in Grid 3 they will be eliminating all cars but one because the others aren't popular enough) and they have also come to the conclusion that you should no longer have to brake for corners, instead just drive flat out the whole race swerving around corners without putting any effort into how fast you should approach a corner or any semblance of realistic physics.
They have taken all the fun out of this game, the only reeddeeming feature is I will be able to sell this rushed piece of garbage back to gamestop.

Codemasters- next time you make a game you should perhaps focus on the content instead of which corners you can cut to save a few cents.

to me it is a very good game, maybe the first one was better, but it is still a good game...

I try my best to like it, but I can't. Every time I try to race, the car just doesn't handle properly. It keeps drifting for no reason. That's my only complain about the whole game, why is everything drifting like crazy. It's really awful with a wheel. No cockpit view is a non-issue, all the "lol be popular on youtube" thing is bearable (even though really annoying, especially when you can't do simple things such as skipping the talk, so irritating on your second or third playthrough), but the inability for most cars to drive in a straight line is disappointing.

With a controller it feels better, but what's the point of a semi-simulation game (the genre Codemasters used to be best at, games that are a balance between physics and accessibility, like the first GRID which is in no way a simulator but still feels 'realistic') if you can't play it properly with a wheel?

what makes it suck is the AI physics, AI is like a 60 ton tank with speed of over 200 km/s. you can't crash an AI even from 9 or 3 oclocks but they can make you spin all over the place by just one tiny tip on you. this makes the single play sucks pretty much. someone says the AI will react based on how you drive, not its just a lie. many many many times i just want to finish a lap without any contact of crash with any other car of objects, the AI behind me will just ram over you hit you out of the way or into the sky no matter how you are polite to them before. sometimes i even try to follow an AI very closely to see how it drives, yes it drives very very fast and so am i and i drive very very carefully to get very close and not hitting him, and i found it not so difficult. but why the stupid AI always hit me from behind without even break? god i just can't give up those good old days which AI cars just do everything they can to avoid hit you or just go around. if the AI cars hit me in drift mode, i can understand that because sometimes in real world me or some others will hit each other when drifting, especially when two cars driving very close to do drifting at the same time.but in other mode in GRID 2, i just can't forgive the AI cars that drive their way like no one else was there and they are the 60-ton tanks while i am light-weighted like a toy car.
i can take it that there is no cockpit view, but i can't bear it any more the AI car use totally different physics than player car

^ This. AI is blind and on rails to a laughable extent.
Difficulty is also entirely arbitrary, with a huge gap between Hard and Very Hard that makes neither levels really enjoyable.
The demo derby "gift" is a joke, with even stranger physics and only one effin' car available. This is simply nothing like the 8 lap races in Grid 1.
The UI sucks too, you can't even see the paint you're designing or the wheel rims you're buying.

The only good thing is the improved Flashback that is fast and easy to use, like it should have been from the start. On the other hand, it's not something you want to use regularly and it's pretty stupid that you're allowed so many Flashbacks even in the higher difficulty levels...

Season 3 and I can't muster the courage to go on. Having played all of Codies racers since Grid/Dirt 1 I thought I knew what to expect from the solo part of this game, but I'm still appalled. For me this is a new low in singleplayer experience.

In order to see the car from different angles and to see the paint and wheels you can use the right thumbstick on your controller to move the camera.

What I hate the most about the SP part is that AI. They're always overly agressive (remembers me of SHIFT's AI, which would run you off the track for no reason), and there's that "cheating" AI that's 5 seconds ahead of the pack after two turns. On higher difficulties you have to drive like a mad man to even get close to it. Which is hard with such unpredictable physics.

Do ppl really buy this game for single player?
PowerHaus930 2013 年 10 月 5 日 下午 6:12
I did and i'm not dissapointed. Although I got it in a trade and spent $10 on it. There's no way I would spend $50 on this game. I plan on looking into the online play after I get a little better at single player. I only just started Tier 2 so I want to have experience with higher tier cars before playing online.
Zodh 2013 年 10 月 6 日 上午 1:31
My suggestion: don't focus only on single player.

After you fully unlock tier 1 in a campaign and figure out what car works better for you, start playing tier 1 custom races online. Same for other tiers.

Recommended starter cars:
T1 Giulietta,
T2 Skyline,
T3 Corvette,
T4 Bugatti

Best cars you should aim for, unless you are playing for fun and don't care about winning:
T1 Camaro z28,
T2 Mercedes C63,
T3 Corvette z06,
T4 Agera

Try to fit as many handling upgrades as you can (2 or 3 unless it's Corvette where you can go 1-1-4), then gradually exchange them for power/drivetrain.

And welcome to Grid 2!
arkaras 2013 年 10 月 6 日 上午 2:51
Multiplayer would be fun BUT: most of the races end up to be destruction derbys -.-. It feels more like playing a pinball simulation than a racing game. Unfortunately the game supports this derby behavior. Thats where the game mechanics are crap :(.

Just treat it as a part of the game and it will be less frustrating.
Also I suggest to play Hardcore playlists where recklessness is not rewarded. But caution and patience wins.
And no flashbacks is the most beautiful thing, so mistakes are not acceptable.
PowerHaus930 2013 年 10 月 6 日 上午 3:47
I played the game all the way to tier 2 without knowing what the flashbacks were lol

Hahah, that's quite a way to put it, but yeah it's true.

That drifting style of this game is a pain in the ass for me. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, what the hell is it? Overtaking competition? You overtake pickup trucks? Are you kidding me? IF there's any mod that makes that game less gridy 2, I'd like to have it.
