Update to freezing screen issue.

I exchanged about 20 emails so far with Codemasters and Staem support and guess what:

Steam says its a Codmasters issue and Codemastes says its a Steam problem.
I tried 3 different Graphic cards and still have the same freezing stuttering screen.
Does anybody know a solution that works?
(please dont tell me to unplug all my USB devices, i was desperate enough to even try that already.)
I would be greatful for some help here.

Does it do it if you play with the keyboard? Is it Windows 8? Does it lock up all together, or just hang and come back repeatedly?

MS sidewinder FFB,ASUS P9X79 deluxe windows 7, i7-3930, ASUS gtx 670 CU II, 16 Gb RAM, no problems at ANY other game.

every 3 -5 secs freeze for about 0,5 to 1 sec. Pain in the butt to play.

Ive got this too man. its something to do with the game engine i believe as Grid 1 and dirt 3 do the same thing. Have verified cache, unplugged all usb (Except mouse, keyboard and controller) changed hardware.xml to the correct amount of cores ect. nothing works.

If it was the game engine then wouldn't we all have this problem? G1 and D3 are fine for me too.

I tried differnet download region as CM customer service suggested, updated all my drivers and chipset, tried older drivers as well, the result is still the same....CM blames Steam, Steam blames CM. The last thing they sent me was this link. I tried and it didnt work, but maybe for you it does.

G1 and Dirt 2 and 3 worked just fine with my computer. The only game NOT working is Grid 2

did you try disabling ambient occlusion? Sometimes this is an issue with Nvidia I read.

Last post in that thread recommends forcing dx10 by editing a config file. Try that maybe.

Yes, i tried that too. I wonder how many ppl still have the same issue. I know there are a lot. Maybe someone came to a fix?

I have the same problem than you, I have a less powerfull computer, but I still can play BF3 or F1 2012 on high/very high....

this happens when i updated the new nvidia drivers from 320.14 to 320.18

I have the same issue,doesnt do it offline. Momentarily freezes every 5-10 secs, almost in tune with some of the in game sounds like shifting and crashing etc.I had a internet rep come to my house to verify all is working properly. It makes being any good at the game impossible, momentary freezes at 300 km/hr usually results in a crash. I have dirt 2 and 3 and they both run perfectly.I have Win7, 64 bit,8GB ram, GTX560. If someone has any ideas please let us know..thanks

Ive found that if I shut down and restart steam, the game runs fine for 5-6 races, then slowly over the next few races it gets worse.

Yeah, same here. And i also noticed that it freezes more the more players are in the game.
But after my graphic board stopped working while playing GRID 2 (Black screen and Computer crash) I called ASUS support since i still have a warranty on it. They said: DONT use the latest driver 320.18, it can damage the GPU. They told me to "google" the driver 320.18.
Well, I t shows that I am NOT the only one having a GPU crash.
Now my graphic board is damaged and i need to sent it to ASUS to have it fixed. OMG, what a mess.
