GRID 2
Saturation settings for controllers
Hi, I have a generic controller and on one PC it works fine, but on another it is so twitchy every steering input causes a skid of the front wheels. Where can i change the saturation levels for this as I can't seem to find it. Grid used to let me do this, so I'm hoping I can do that here, even if via a xml file or whatever.
For what it's worth I'm enjoying this, though I don't like the multiplayer with friends lack of selecting other cars and you have to level up to play them.

The only thing I've found is in C:/Program Files (x86)/Steam/steamapps/common/grid 2/input/
There is an xml file at the top called dinput_default (I'm guessing the name is for direct input, ie: non officially recognised peripherals such as yours) - the deadzone and saturation settings are there, though I've yet to find something that isn't too twitchy whilst being able to actually corner; though seeing as you're forced to powerslide you could consider that a moot point I guess.

I do wonder if getting an officially recognised controller would help, but I'd hate to throw good money after bad :/

Thanks, I'll give that a try. I wish that the original advanced settings that were in Grid were in this one. Made life much easier.

You can tweak your steering sensitivity in game, find : options/controller/advanced settings. Here you can adjust overall saturation (steering rate) and also Linearity (sensitivity). If you need further tweaking for a good feel you can download "DX tweak 2" and super fine tune your wheel rate. Good luck.

If OP's setup is anything like mine (ie: a peripheral not on the list of officially supported ones) then that option menu is oddly absent from the game.
I'm downloading DXTweak2 now, thanks for the suggestion.

Edit: DXTweak2 doesn't do anything editing the xml file wouldn't - it's just deadzones and min/max extent for the analogs, which I'm guessing is akin to saturation in the xml file.

Like OP, I find that any steering input causes the front tyres to squeal; it's like the tiniest movement outside the deadzone is amplified in-game. I've got deadzone set to 0.25 and saturation to 0.4 - any lower and I can't turn corners when not powersliding. (I know it's counter-intuitive not to slide as the game will punish you with a speed debuff, but sometimes if you get the slide wrong and end up gaining traction again, it's useful to be able to avoid slamming a wall, though even then I think there's an artificial understeer applied)

Thanks Crazytestpilot, but Pantsu is spot on with what happens. I'm using Win 8 so wonder if that's the issue as on my Win 7 gamin laptop the very same controller does not do this and works a real charm.
The slightest turn causes the wheels to fully turn, almost like its a digital on/off. I've watched it happen while playing. The Win 8 properties shows the steering input and it can be moderately controlled, how ever in game forget it.
Thinking about just turfing it and getting a Logitech one, but that seems like a waste and also will serve no help to anyone else with this issue.
I am going to try win360ce to see if this makes a difference tonigjht, so will report back afterwards.
