I have found a solution to the problem. The name of the system disk should be in English, in my case the game was installed on disk D, which was also not in English. Additionally, I added the folder with the game to the Windows antivirus exceptions :cozybethesda:

Not sure what do you mean "name should be in english"

Don't start for me, too.

turn off steam over-play for this game or any over-play like msi afterburner, frap,...

Hm, I was able to start it again. With or without msi afterburner. The difference is that my steering wheel is not connected.
Wow, verifying the game files did help! It re-downloaded 15 MB of something, and now the game starts again. Haven't been able to run it for over a year.

it says "updating executable" and then nothing. How can I fix? :(

Edit: Seems fixed. I already tried compatibility before but tried again with Windows 7 + Administrator access. (After doing all the below points 1 to 7 as well). Both Grid2.exe and Grid2_AVX.exe have been set to the same mode and it seems to work. Also tried resolution and DPI changes but that didn't seem to make a difference.

Same here. Windows 10. 1. Tried running in various compatibility modes. 2. Verified and replaced files 3. Reinstalled entirely 4. Updated NVIDIA drivers. 5. Deleted hardware configuration .xml entries. 6. Switched off MSI Afterburner 7. Switched off Steam overlay. Still not working. Honestly no idea what else i could do.

The drive the game is on is a "Microsoft Storage Space Device" and blocking the game. I cannot remember why this is but it is. I changed drives and my game loaded right up. This happened to other older games also.

Ok Got it sorted..Win 11 User, Steam Overlay Must be turned off. Reinstall game, Now shut down steam, Now SHUT DOWN Not Restart pc... open steam, start Game........... Now this is where the issue i had arose . I had to repeat the last few steps until The "Are you sure that you want to allow this game to make changes to Windows etc...." Pops Up For whatever reason this has not happend, but when it does WooHoo Game worked.. Hope it helps Others..

I had this random issue as well after installing it again on Win 10 (haven't played it in a year or so), there was no error report it just wouldn't start, so I just uninstalled it and installed it again and it worked for some reason. So I guess keep trying to install it again and again, on top of it verify integrity of game files.
