• The controller profile loaded may match the name of your controller, but not actually be for the controller you own.
• There just might not be a profile for your control at all. The light should turn green once the 2 sticks, triggers and D-pad are assigned. Sometimes x360ce.exe application needs to be restarted, after assigning these, for the light to turn green.
• The controller profile might have PassThrough (check-box) enabled.
• The DInput state of the controller might be incorrect due to an application crashing previously and not unloading the controller or some other reason. Opening up Joy.cpl (Set Up USB Game Controllers) and clicking the [Advanced] button, and then Okaying out of the window, that appears, can fix it. This is a bad configuration.. Your problem is too many controllers, not enough people to connect them. If you want to play with xinput, get tocaedit to download the best driver for the controller it detects. Uncheck passthru, and make sure the controller is set to be GAMEPAD. The xce.exe dialog window is only a GUI for the underlying config files. Delete all xinput from GRID folder, and delete your Documents\my games\GRID \hardwaresettings. . With no games open, plug in your controller and wait for windows to install official xbox drivers for it.
Suggestionclose the ce window while in a game to avoid accidents. Is the input jumping from the controller to the keyboard? XCOM supports simultaneous UFO sighting thru hand holding.. Shame I already shot down all the U F O. Passthru can be tricky..sometimes you'll need to have feedback passthru enabled and the main passthru still open.
