GRID 2

Running fullscreen at 5120x1440 Resolution
I recently switched to an ultra-wide screen monitor (specifically the C49G95T from Samsung) and am having trouble playing Grid 2 in full screen at the native resolution.

If I try to select 5120x1440 from the in-game configuration, the game restarts at the very lowest resolution.

I can edit the hardware_settings_config.xml located at ~\Documents\My Games\GRID 2\hardwaresettings and set the resolution using the following:

<resolution width="5120" height="1440" aspect="auto" fullscreen="false" vsync="0" multisampling="4xmsaa">

This works and the game is playable, although with a window/border. If I try to use alt+enter or set fullscreen="true" in the config, the game crashes and starts back at the lowest resolution in config.

There doesn't seem to be a "full screen window" mode unless I'm missing it. Is there any way to get this game to play fullscreen at the resolution specified?

I have the exact same issue with the Samsung G9

Solved it for me at least: in the options switch to windowed mode, set all your other options including the 5120x1440 resolution, apply and quit the game, re launch and press alt+enter to run fullscreen again - worked for me.

This can be fixed.
The problem is the aspect ratio 21:9 and 32:9 the game does not know what to do with it and crashes.

So do the following.
Set the aspect ratio to whatever you want. Just make sure its not set to "Auto". We'll fix it later.
Set all the graphic settings the way you want them. leave aspect ratio to whatever you set it above.

If it accepts all the settings, shut the game down.
Open hardware_settings_config.xml in ~\Documents\My Games\GRID 2\hardwaresettings\
Change the aspect option to 'aspect="auto"'. You can also change it to 32:9 or whatever but when the game starts it will change it back to auto.
When the game starts it will have the desired resolution with the correct aspect ratio in full screen mode.
It works when you do not use fullscreen mode. I've got 32:9 too
