Some times its the wheels force feed back that screws things up.
This is pretty much another codemasters screw up they didn't give it much care and thought.
Don't worry about it.
if you got a controller use that instead this game just has a lot of issues with wheels.
And not to mention the online portion is pretty bland and boring
Mostly run into a lot of sore losers who ram and don't know how to actually drive in a game.
I don't drive anything other than T1 - T2

They're not selling it on Steam anymore, and nobody knows why. In the meantime, you can get a steam key by buying it from another site.
Codemaster doesn't put much thought into triple monitor or VR either, none of their games support real multi-monitor projection. I think all of their games work better with wheels (except Grid 2). Basically when you buy a racing game, check wikipedia to see if it had a console release, if it did, ask or look around to find out if it's only optimized for controller like Gran Turismo, Forza, Grid 2, Need For Speed and Project Cars 3 are.
Newest grid seems fine on wheels as far as i have seen. Don't have wheel myself but physics of Grid2019 seem wheel friendly.

It has the most amazing wheel steering/feeling that any other racing/driving game that I know. Who knows, you may even like it.
and I have to say, it aint bad once you get the settings right
the base settings are awful, get rid of all deadzones, and set linearity to 0
