DiRT 3

So is this game really worth it?
I have been debating on buying the game since it went on sale a few days ago but all I keep seeing is people saying it has issues so its kind of pushing me away. Does EVERYONE have issues with it? I have Windows 7 64bit too. I tried the Dirt 2 demo on XBox360 a while ago and wasnt too impressed cause it was X Games style or w/e. I have been waiting for a good rally game for a long time.

The last one and best one I played was very long ago on XBOX1, which was Rallisport Challenge 2! The physics were amazing. I forget the track but it was "foresty" and "fallish" where you had leaves blowing in the air etc when drivers drove over them etc. Really wished they would make another Rallisport game >.<

Anyway, do people still play online? Like real racing, not capture the flag or other game modes. Are people over-reacting on the issues or should I buy it?

Thanks!

Fun game. Less arcadie than Dirt 2. Some good rally tracks, and pretty challenging at times. I like the controls, the cars are pretty sensitive to the terrain, but are very responsive at the same time. Bit of a learning curve in that sense. The game looks good graphically, too. You have a limited amount of customization for the cars, but there is some room for play. There are also like 20-30 vehciles (some historic). Also, there's a good amount of tracks to play and learn even without the DLC.

Anyways, I loved this game - had a lot of fun with it. It's probably the best rally game in recent times. I won't comment about the DRM, though - sometimes GFWL is a pain in the ass.

I am willing to bet that many people will start playing it now that it went on sale. I can't estimate how many but a good amount. I know I want to play online at least. I just bought it and haven't gotten off of work yet to install it but I will be sure to let you know.

I bought GTA IV days ago and installed it like usual. Opened up the game and ran into Xbox/Windows live issues. I ended up calling the support line and they remotely accessed my computer to help me debug my issues. When the tech saw the icon for windows live he almost flipped. He explained that the version I had installed was so old that it was bound to have conflicts with any other windows live games I purchased in the future. He uninstalled all the windows live stuff and directed me to download the Windows Live Marketplace application from the store to replace the old outdated programs I had which were from 2008/2009 when GTA IV came out. So this may/may not be related as it seems DiRT also relies on Windows live.

Will update this when I install the game tonight.

Just bought it, playing on Windows 8 64 bit and after the initial GFWL faffing (downloaded latest version, installed, logged in) the game works perfectly.

As has already been said, it seems less arcade than Dirt 2 and I love the inclusion of 70s and 80s cars, more my era :)

I have every single DiRT game. I've played every single DiRT game on Steam and I've never EVER had any problems with DiRT on my computer Buy it while it's on sale because It's worth the price. You're better off buying the Mega Pack. I also do a lot of work in DiRT too.

Had Dirt 3 for bout a year now.. never had a error/crash/etc..
I will say tho GFWL almost fked me once, after about 2minutes of searching I fixed the issue and that was basically the closes thing I've had to an issue.

As for the gameplay, it's dope man. The handling is difficult though with all assist off (which is what I like) so keep that in mind. Graphically looks amazing of course, Gymkhana is something I've never heard of and wasn't into but I know plenty of peeps who play Dirt3 for that mode in particular. Multiplayer was jumpin the last time I was online, about a month ago.

My only gripe with the game is the lack of amount of cars and customization (this is coming from some1 whose last racing game was Forza4), so of course compared to that I was going to be disappointed. Also I've never played any of the other Dirt games.

Hope that helps at least a little.

DO NOT GET IT, I TRY TO RACE BUT I CANT CONTROL ANYTHING. IT WAS DOING DONUTS ON ITS OWN, THAT WASNT THE 1ST TIME EITHER. I PRESSED ESCAPED NOTHING, HAD TO CLOSE DOWN THE GAME, THEN MY KEYBOARD WOULDNT WORK. UNLESS YOU WANT TO KEEP HAVING THESE PROBLEMS GO AHEAD BUY IT BUT I REGRET IT.

I just installed it and had to come back to put my input in on how it ran. Installed/ran very smoothly. I do have a moderatly good gaming computer. Take eliteshooters comments with a grain of salt and buy the game if you like it because almost every issue can be resolved as long as you meet the sys req displayed on DiRT 3's page. Link to my first race I just got finished.

The first of the series is still the best but the non-rally events in 3 seem better than 2 (I felt some in 2 were very difficult). The rallies are good but too short. As always drifting is a mystery.

well I was too late to grab it since real life happened and was not home >.<. But summer steam sales are around the corner, maybe it will be on sale again and possibly even 75% off?! lets hope!

You must of not got the point of my thread. I willl spell it out for you again. Obviously I want the game and the point of the thread was stated at the beginning. That I was (keyword "was"), debating on buying it because all I kept hearing was how a lot of people were having issues with it etc especially with GFWL. And a few replies later I also stated that real life happened and I couldn't buy it because I was not home so I missed the sale (again, obviously I wanted it).

There is no point to me in buying it right now for the regular price of $25 when I know it willl be on sale again. Probably in steams summer sales. So nice try of saying I am greedy though. Especially when you replied to this thread 10 days later from when I originally made it, which was May 2nd. lmfao!!!! :D
