Game will not launch
I just bought, downloaded and installed F1 2010. It says it is ready to play. I try to launch the game, and absolutely nothing happens. It says I play the game for one minute. Have uninstalled and re-installed, with the same results.

Spent $10 on this game since it is the best F1 game for Career Mode. I am brand new to Steam and this is my first purchase. Extremely frustrating. Can anybody help me at all?

Ya good luck getting any support or help.. I've posted many times over the last year simply asking even just for verification that anyone had it working under XP. Crickets.. and of course if your running XP it's a fine excuse for vendors to not offer any help also. My advice is to avail of steams refund policy and get a newer version that still offers some tech support. You will save yourself alot of time and frustration :facepunch:

I had the exact same problem and after hours of searching for a solution i gave up, But now i have discovered something that fixed it for me, Not sure if it will work for you but i suppose its worth a try.

Go to: C:/Program Files(x86)/Steam/Steamapps/common/F1 2010/Redist

Then go into the folder called rapture3d, Run and install the application in there.

When thats done go back to the redist folder, Then go into the OpenAL folder and install that application too.

Lastly, Go back to the redist folder, Go into the gfwl folder and install that application.

Once you have done all of these the game SHOULD open, it fixed it for me so i guess its worth a try.

Hope it helps.

Hey Clank, very much appreciate you posting this. Unforntunately it's down to the community to help ourselves. I've given up on F1-2010 but next time I try to spin it up I'll refer back to this post and relay the results. I'm running x86 version of XP so unsure if it's applicable or not but will let you know. Hats off to you! Cheers! :masonfist:

I'm running the game on 8.1 and have no problems with starting it. Have you checked your compatibility settings??

Edit:

I just looked around to find some old posts I made in the forums. The problem I had was GFWL and that it didn't play. This worked me for me at the time;

Managed to get Windows Live working http://www.xbox.com/en-US/LIVE/PC/DownloadClient

Go there, download and install it.

Use this link http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/confirmation.aspx?id=15106
If you can't get it working properly in one go.

Then you can open it, if it gives ya crap when you're trying to log in, follow the following link;
http://keeppcquiet.blogspot.nl/2012/11/games-for-windows-live-8015403a-login.html

and then when you've done that. Open the game NOT through Steam but through the folder and voila.

That's how far I've come atleast thusfar. Have had some ♥♥♥♥ with Windows Live saying they found a newer install ? and couldn't download the profile. Will report back if I found a working way. Hopefully, this will be able to get ya'll started

Let Windows Live do the update and then you can start the game through Steam itself and the game miraculously works as it should be.

Hi. Copy the xlive.dll, xlive.dll.cat, xlivefnt.dll, xliveinstall.dll und xliveinstallhost.exe the files from the folder (Windows\SysWOW64 to Windows\System32). Then run the game. I hope it helps!

f1 2010 seems to require quite a few third-party applications.
gfwl, openal, rapture3d, and .net framework 3.5, all that on top of the already present SecuROM drm.

a little clarification for the uninitiated: when gfwl "installs"...the program files are copied to the program files (x86) directory by default, xlive.dll, xlive.dll.cat, xlivefnt.dll, xliveinstall.dll and xliveinstallhost.exe are copied to the SysWOW64 directory. simply copying those libraries to system32 will not "make the game work" since securom is still an issue, though it is possible that games for windows live is recognized as a sort of pseudo-disc if you will, in regards to the securom drm that barely functions today, but that's just a theory for now, and a half-assed one at that. i'll update this post with my findings if i make any progress.

I hope somebody still looks after this discussion. I got nostalgic and installed the game. Said the xlive.dll file is missing so i downloaded it but now the game doesnt start you know regular stuff. Before it used be that simple but know i cant find the solution. If somebody sees this i would like to get an answer thank you
you have to copy the file xlive.dll in the same directory where the game executable exe file is.

For future reference, this is an early 2010's racing sim with licensed content, was delisted in september 2017, is a SecuROM-embedded title that never had the drm patched out, and the support for it is dead.

Just emulate the ps3 release. it's a hell of a lot easier than attempting to run the old steam package.
