Riding the harvester

How do you ride a harverster, as is shown in the trailer and is required for an achievement? My guess is spiked booting a harvester, but I'm not sure, so I just want to know to be sure of what it actually is.

Unless one of the recent patches has changed it, spike boots just kill harvesters, so its not that. I've tried a few times to stand on a harvester and shoot another enemy but no luck, probably something more specific is required. I'm not getting too worried about those kinds of things right now since they are working to patch up the game's more glaring issues right now. Hopefully once everything is working much smoother we can figure out how to ride harvesters. Could be a secret for all I know.

You'll find the correct harvester in 4th zone. In 4-3, if i remember correctly. Just dont use spiked boots on him, he'll die.

Wait, there's only one specific harvester you can ride? How do you ride him?

I've found out that it wasn't do able with harvesters. You need a different creature for this.

It can be found crawling around in the Athena labs (Zone 4). It looks like a mixture between a crocodile and a spider. It won't cause any harm to you. Leaves a blood trail.

Once you've found one, jump on it's back and kill an enemy. This isn't possible with spike boots, so be careful. If done right, you will slide across the area and during this, you need to kill an enemy

So thats what that poor guy is for, I thought he was just there for comic/tragic relief. I'll try not to reflexively mercy kill him next time.

Okay, i found it and yep it works, took me a few tries though, not sure when it registers you as being "riding" him. I think you have to actually be "surfing" on him so take a running start, jump onto it, and then quickly kill something, probably use a hitscan weapon as well, it didn't count it when i used the flak gun, but worked with the pistol

If you want to unlock the achievement easily, try run the murderzone on Athena, you can find the black harvester in the other rooms except the main one.
