Gladiator wants to retire, so what?
I got a 20-0 gladiator who wants to retire for quite a while now. He doesn't get any penalty, no moral loss, nothing.
Is this just another silly immersion thing here??? Btw. he's 21 years young and wants to retire although he kills everyone in his path. This doesn't make any sense.

yeah the retirement thing needs to be looked at , ive had fighters aged younger than 21 who want to retire after a handfull of fights , personally i begrudge paying the gladiators wages for fights since historically they were slaves .
Gladiators typically want to retire if they suffered a lot of wounds or if they have made a lot of money in the arena (they want to live to spend it). Also age ties in. It's a low percentage, so I'm surprised a 20-0 gladiator is asking for this. Send me your save game to info@creativestormentertainment.com and I can take a look.

Actually historically they were both slaves and people/citizens looking for a quick buck or an adventure. Gladiators were concidered much like your favorite sports players like Michael Jordan, Babe Ruth, and Emmitt Smith. Also historically the vast majority of fights were non-lethal. Most fighters were trianed to draw blood I.E. knick a shoulder or leg rather than kill.

Well he did suffer and he did have a ton of success.
The main question was though: What gameplay difference does it make when a gladiator wants to retire? Nothing?
If you do not free him right away after he requests retirement, he will give you a "grace" period of usually a few weeks through which to tie up loose ends and what not. After that, his morale drops at an increasingly higher level until you're forced to give him pay raises each day or bribe him with larger purse shares.

In some of my playthroughs, I have been chasing a wins or kills record with a gladiator that wanted to retire, nearly running my business into the ground through pay raises and share in order to achieve the record. So there is a definite gameplay effect in the happiness mechanic of the individual fighter.

Ok, thanks! Then at least my other ones are save cause I picked the "no retirement" perk right after the first one wanted to retire.
