PWI

PWI

Why did we lose PWI?
Some of you might remember me from these forums from being super sad about this game leaving Steam, till someone here gave me the files to get it back on my steam. As happy as I am to get the game back, I cant seem to find a reason as to "why" the game left steam with no hints of it leaving.

Can any of you tell me why PWI left us with no warning at all?

PWE the parent company of PWI decided to pull the game off steam for whatever reason. Wasn't clear as to why. Other than to make updating the game faster and streamline.
well thats a little lame... I hope i can dig around more to find the reason.

It's simple. This game is crapy bad and company can't delete our posts here. pay to win in 100% that is the ture!. Don't play this game! Never ever! 0/10.
well for you. I love the game and still play to this day on steam still <3

PWI left due to cost and constraints of using steam -

Launcher Must run with steam
Overlay must run above arc
Must comply with steam TnC

ETC ETC.

You can still launch via steam if you downloaded it. and you can still play Via Arc or use the start by patcher bypass.

Thanks.

Autofarm, insta lvl 100 pills, ah where looking up items is done wrong in so many ways. Being lazy isn't the reason people complain about pay2win, folks just spend rl money and stuff gets more and more expensive untill you have to farm for hours to have 25% of the mats required for a low lvl craft. If one does not want to ask for help every few minutes i advise spending a lot of money or just skip this shi tty game.

They pulled it because the costs of Steam isn't worth the negative publicity that they cannot control or delete like they do on their Arc forums.

This game is a scam. In Feb 2018, they promoted a big fanfare about a change in their rewards scheme for their cross server tournament, such that the guild who wins the competition will earn each of its 200 members a Crest of Kings helm.

After 7 months of weekly competition and investing money and time for gears, 3 weeks after end of tournament, PWI announces they will send out only 5 of the original promoted 200 Crests. As compensation? Remaining players get a poorer item that is timed i.e. most of the 'replacements' lasts only 90 days.

Any other business try to do this kind of scam will get sued, but PWI just walks away with our cash in their pockets while their GMs delete every thread about it.

It is better for everyone else that PWI is not available on Steam.

Wow... I did not know that. And here I had the game in a WAY different light from my childhood...

late to the party as I haven't played PWI in years, but what you guys are saying about why PWI was taken from steam makes no sense one bit... if the reasons why it left steam were true, then all PWE games i.e. STO, Neverwinter, etc would be removed from steam as well

Well I'm still not sure as to why it left. I've only been asking around here. But I'd still love to see it return.

I played every day for 4 years and then one update later they introduced the EXP boosting P2W stuff and what took me 4 years of 4~6+ hours a day to get became one and half months, then one update later and a record was set at less than a week. This game is what turned me and others off of the MMORPG genre, and it's a textbook example of P2W. That was many, many years ago; I'm certain it's only gotten worse*. They would cycle "generations" of players by releasing an OP class/race with new BIS gear and the oldies would leave/ragequit and the newbies would buy in and then it would repeat a while later. The auction house and cashshop made it easy to just pay your way to the BIS endgame gear, and with EXP burning buffs it made levelling just as reliant.

When I was the 8th ranked blademaster in NA after 4 years, I had spent just over $3000 on the game with !!significant!! playtime investment. The guy above me spent $8k, guy above him 10k, then 13k and 18k. People dumped tons of money into the game and it showed.

To say that "only lazy people" complain about the P2W is ridiculous. I know that comment 3 years old now, but that's just delusional... It's typically found on lists of "most pay to win mmorpgs". Like, it's just just a few steps shy of being a mobile game where you can just swipe for endgame gear.

* Edit: yeah, a quick google search shows that it's gotten far worse. They've continued the cycle and keep 1uping their P2W schemes with each generation of player. Surprise, surprise...

I wish this game was good... So many memories. Terrible company.
