FPS is short for first person shooter. You can have first person mode in non-shooting games. Please think before you post.
I want you to think. What mmorpg let go in first person ? Like 1% of them.
One of the reason would be the combat. How can you play in first person and fight monsters in this game ? If you are an assassin ... there is no way you would be able to nimble dash and do combat in that view.
Please dude. I know what i'm talking about.
Off the top of my head? WoW, FFXI (This game is pre 2002), FFXIV. I'm sure there are tons more. Way more than "1% of all mmos" as you claim.
All these mmorpg combat are you go to a monsters and you don't move and you press buttons while not moving. Try doing this on TERA.
Do i really have to explain why mmorpg tend to not put first person view on their game ?
Apologies for this late reply.
Thank you to you for trying to answer my question.
Indeed very few non-shooter can play it in the first person but exsiste.
Apparently it can play that in some stage and not throughout the game.
The horse scene that plays this way but not walk.
I'm not against shooting games but prefers to do several things.
I'll get another game with different actions. shots +++
I board not try FAR CRY 4
Sorry for the google translation, I am French.
Samael there are different types of mmorpg and you are talking about the action variety.
Action mmorpg tend to be third person, traditional mmorpg tend to be first or third, older mmorpg will tend to be first only. One reason for the older mmorpg's being first person only is that it cut down on the system requirements not having to render you character and third person wasn't as popular back then.
RoI is not an action mmorpg in the true sense of the word. First person would work in RoI definately if a wizard or a priest but the other classes would work to. Makes it feel more "real" I think, however you do lose the spacial awareness.
FPS is no rightous shortening. This is First Person Sight. I am not interested.
