How to defeat rare Glowly-poly *minor spoilers*
So i'm going up the mountain and the party stops and makes notice of this rare enemy that stands on a snowball,

anyway i start the battle and all it uses is some Handstand move that gives it guranteed evasion so my attacks ALWAYS miss and does Alight to get on the ground, i can't do anything, ... anyone know how to beat this thing? it drops rare materials

I killed it with Demi using Momentum Mode and the talisman that adds Special Damage to Momentum Mode attacks.

I just beat at it with attacks until it died... same way I beat all the special monsters. They seem to be always immune to everything except direct damage skills and have some stat stupid high (like evasion). They also ignore most buffs on you. While other enemies die in one or two hits and deal close to no damage. The difficulty and balancing in this game are pretty lazy.

Haha, when I encountered Glowly-poly I had the same reaction you did. The one thing that the game does not tell you regarding special monsters is that they are completely unique and you will not find them anywhere in the game. Glowly-poly is not just an upgraded version of the other poly's you have been fighting so far. It has 34 HP and an insane evasion of 90ish % as its base evasion rate. It does not matter whether you use regular attacks or magical as the evasion applies to all. That being said don't attack when it is using the handstand move because it is 100% evasion at that point. Only attack after Alight happens and it is back on the ground. I reccommend using Aeterna as she naturally hits twice with her two basic attacks and four times with a Momentum boosted base attack. It'll probably take you around 15-20 minutes of just spamming basic attacks to kill it, but it will give you 1000 EXP and some decent materials which is really good at that point in the game.

Hmm, took only about about 2-5 turns (< 1 min - 2min) to hit/kill it, it's not that hard to hit it. Just wait that it is on the ground (alight) and use momentum attacks. Grinded from lvl 16 to about lvl 25 by killing it.

That's strange to hear that because I came back at lvl 45 when I was backtracking to get all the locked chests and it still dodged 50% of my attacks (Momentum too) even at that point.

RNG is RNG. For some people, they will kill it on their very first attack and go "I don't see the problem here" while others will go 10 minutes doing nothing.

i use momentum to kill it. It add bonus damage = bonus attack . Battle usually ends after 2-3 turns. Having Aeterna is good since she do 2 attacks , 4 attacks if with momentum. Really good way to farm exp at that point.
and yah , dont attack when it handstands.

Yea RNG the little guy is too weak it just takes a luck to land a hit on it.

To some people it will happen right away while to some it won't.

Same for me, usually 2-4 minutes per kill. It's quite close to the cave entrance, thus excellent for grinding, got everyone up several levels and upgraded all equipment from the drops.

But the next two special monsters that I found were a bit harder, in fact those kept wiping the floor with me so I'll have to try them again later.

Yea I just bumped into 3 specials apperentely they have high % chance to freeze your ass so unless you have good immunity to freeze status (or skill strong enough to kill them in one shot) they gonna wipe your party out quickly guess I gonna avoid them till I figure out the proper equips.

I was expecting a big hard fight but after dodging a few attacks it died in one hit without even attacking us. Looking forward to the others, it's more interesting than being difficult simply having higher stats.

Yeah the special monsters really ramp up in power level, but the problem is that the rewards don't exponentionally increase as their powers do. They still give 1K-3K exp (aside from 2 that only show up near the very end of the game) and the only real reason to fight them is for the materials that they drop.

I managed to kill them pretty easy with Endir + Nidr's Cross Cutter (Endir with Sword which has fire effect + Support Spritnite that adds special damage). Usually kills them one momentum Cross Cutter and if not dead yet, Kir's Fire takes the rest, nets you 3k EXP. Good grinding spot.

It's pretty easy once you figure it out. Use shock, lighting, or fire. Wait until it's not rolling on the snow. When the squirrel is behind the snowball, you'll hit it. It might miss the first time, or even the second time, but you'll get it pretty quick if you just wait until it stops rolling.

I used this as a farm spot a couple of times just to get my characters at a higher level for hp/mp.
