Your math is really off here.
yes and no.
you see, if you make a game about jrpg turn based combat you should/would be invested into it for many hours, so you have to deduct that from the story. but if your game is only 20 hour, how do you fit a well written story and well developed characters while seemingly have enough depth into the gameplay?
I just doesnt see it tbh...
In every FF for ex, that is roughly 40 hour ( on your first playthrough) I cant imagine cutting out 20 hours of content without it taking a great hit. no matter if its in the gameplay or the story.
and yes, im well aware that this is a new studio and they probably got a "try" and smaller budget for their first game- so yes, we should def support this studio but also realize that this game could have been much bigger and better.
thats why I in the end dont like the price tag, it looks like a handheld game, with almost dreamcast grandia 2 graphics, its only 20-25 hours according to famitsu...
One side is going to fall short that much is clear. But the general consensus in reviews seems to be that it's just "long enough". Reviewers however benefit in general of shorter games (job) and wouldn't do much post game grinding like hardcore players usually do.
So i personally wouldn't put too much weight into their opinions about length. There are people who like to grind and have a post game dungeon and stuff like this but those will be disappointed by what Setsuna offers most likely.
Everyone else won't care and probably fall in line with the same sentiment that it's just "long enough".
