I just build a large wood base so when i want to upgrade do i have break it down?

By upgrade you mean replace it with stone or iron. No you could place the new piece right on it, leave the old or then select the old one and demolish it...you can use the original as a guide for placing the new. Also test the "Enable Snap" control in the Placement and Adjustment interface. You could activate Snap, when placing the new piece and have it align perfectly with the old with the snap activated.

Another useful trick is placing structures to intersect objects that ususally don't allow intersection. Place a machine for instance. Then place a platform or other structure near it. It doesn't matter where because the next step after placing it is to then select and Adjust the structure's location. When adjusting, a structure is able to be relocated on top of or into the machine. Also Walls don't want to intersect other structures. But if the walls are placed first, a structure can be placed to intersect them using the above trick.

Yet another tip - small ramps stack.
Small Wood ramps can link horizontally. The surface they create holds weight.
Look for examples under the Screenshots tab above under "Recent" and scroll down to find some of my screenshots...I just looked and there are quite a few images now before you get to it =)

Starplay545 - by the way 13 Kxxx wasn't yelling at you, he was yelling at me for writing my bits in seperate notes, like I just did again. So don't worry about him. He's just a nice guy who's having a bit of fun complaining. =) )
