The game offers enough graphical quality settings to configure the game. And most players had no issues with stuttering or something like this. The game is optimized as good as possible with the used GameEngine. But the engine is for sure not that powerfull like other engines used in AAA Games.
I have no issues on levels like The Vault, or anywhere closed in. The first 3-4 or so levels were so horrendous I almost quit playing and refunded. Anywhere reflections are, and some open world. Maybe add a setting to remove reflection all together if possible.
Specs are in profile. If I can run AAA games on high with no issues, I should be able to run this. Sure, it offers enough "Graphical settings", but they don't do anything save for maybe 2-3 FPS difference if going from High to Low.
We already include a kind of option for "no reflections". This happens when you set the reflections to "LOW". The used reflectionmap will only be created once at level start and in indoor scene when you change rooms. So low reflecrion quality does not take any performance any more. And please stop to explain that you can run other games with better settings. Different game means different technology behind it!
But i really can´t believe, that changing for example to resolution, or shadow quality does not make any difference as we can see quite big changes in the framerate on each system we tested the game on. Also we can see tons of videos of the game on YouTube and other places, and all players (with different hardware) were able to play the game with acceptable settings.
From our side we now explained the technical facts as good as possible from our side and we will stop this discussion here, as we can´t tell you much more technical things about the engine beyond the game.
.
I have not refunded the game, if you re-read my last post correctly this time. I said that I "almost quit playing and refunded". Obviously I didn't, since I have 5+ hours in your game.
Game still runs like garbage on the first few levels even with EVERYTHING set to low.
Just from your attitude, I will tell you that I will not purchase anything from your company in the future. You have a terrible customer-developer manner about you, and you refuse to even acknowledge that people (not just me, that other guy with the 980 Ti, and others) are having issues with your games optimization. So it must be us, not your game, even though you've stated many times you are using an inferior engine.
Every single time someone challenges, or even tries to seek help, with the bad optimization in this title, you lay down "facts" and then close up shop instead of have an open mind and think of ways to fix it. You're even basically calling me a liar by saying that you can't believe that even on all low settings, I get about 30 FPS in the open world setting. Your company will not go far with that attitude, rest assured.
I am sorry, that i read something wrong about the refund, that was my mistake.
Can you then perhabs tell me something exactly, what resolution did you choose to play? When everything is set to low, which framerate do you get in the first indoor level? or the 2nd?
I play at 1080p, with an R9 290x 4GB VRAM and 8GB RAM (2166) on Windows 10.
All of the levels prior to the Vault (statue and trap puzzle) I had FPS anywhere from as low as 1 up to about 25, sometimes 30.
The Vault was decent, so was the Fun House and other tightly closed in areas, stable 60 FPS on high settings (reflections on low). I still had some problems with the Amusement Park, the Asylum and the Graveyard. However my FPS was in the 40s and 50s at this point.
These FPS would not be as big of an issue except for one thing, that the game would freeze/stutter, and it was very nauseating when this would happen. It was near unplayable for me, although my hardware is more than sufficent to handle such a game.
I also have all of the up-to-date AMD drivers.
I just made some tests on my own system here. I am using an intel core i5, and GeForce GTX 770 (which is less power than your one or from the guy with the 980Ti). I used all graphical settings on HIGH and the realtime reflections on LOW and also fullHD resolution (1080p) I got stable 58-60 FPS in the indoor scenes, also for the Ayslum.
The Graveyard is running slower with these settings, i got about 40-50 FPS. If i go down and set everything to LOW i get about 90-120 FPS.
Normally the game should run much better on your system. We can try to figure out what´s wrong with the game on your system. But in this case and might be better, if we could talk otherwise, skype perhalbs?
I am beginning to wonder if it's mostly AMD optimization that is causing the issue here, which isn't unusual and would definitely not be a first. Sure we can talk on Skype if you wish.
We know that the used game engine is definetly better optimzed for nVidia than for amd, as most engines are optimized better for one of them. I just sent you a friendship request here on Steam. Please accept, so i can send you a privae message including my Skype name.
I'll reiterate the responses I've received from this dev for you...
"Don't compare our game to other games! They all run differently!"
"Reduce everything to LOW settings and it runs fine!"
"We tested this game on a bajillion different rigs and it runs great! There are even Let's Plays on YouTube so it must run fine for everyone."
"The game engine is not powerful."
I guess i explained it as good as possible. There is only one small feature why the games is running to slow on your system. Turn down the realtime reflections to medium or low and you got real high framerates on your system. The other alternative would be, that we totaly disable realtime reflections on the highest qualiy level and update the game. But there are also players out there, that are using cards in SLI and they are able to use such feature, so why not allow those players to use it?
We tried to help you with you performance issues. We even sent you a personal message here on Steam, including a Skype contact to us. But you need to contact us, otherwise we can not help you.
