VIDEO: Get Star Wars Rebellion working on Windows 10. (should work on all versions)

Hi all, so this has been a big problem for lots of you. I have made a short video explaining how to get the game running in full screen, the icons correclty displaying and how to skip the briefing.

Please note - you will need to get a new exe file, which is in the description and your anti virus WILL throw a fit. All the steps I take to make this work are in the video. Once you've download the exe and followed the steps, you can turn your anti virus back on.

The reason it throws a fit is because the file is very old (this game is almost 20 years old!). Now, if you don't feel comfortable doing that, then I suggest you get the game from gog.

I tried changing the res but same issue. I can play it fine..its just ine bigger window mode with borders, not full screen.

That's very strange. I suggest keep trying with the resolution until something works. But I havent come across a proper solution for this yet

Without ANY information about your system its impossible to offer any help. Its a common issue. Just google search the 'Application was unable to start correctly with that error code and see the results that fit your system.

Bump for all those new. Disney have released a hot fix,so you shouldn't experience upside icons any longer. This video also covers how to get out of the Window mode and, how to remove the start up briefings from both droids. Enjoy!

hey there, i'm running this on windows 7, changed it to run in compatibility mode, and 256 colours and 640x480 resolution, the game now runs fine, however the screen is stretched and i cant see the edges of the screen, so missing the very important day, game speed, resources etc menus. any idea on how i can change this? i tried changing the launch option to -windowed which didnt boot it in windowed mode, which im sure can fix this but i cant figure out how to run it in windowed mode or if there is another fix?

try adjusting the resolution on your monitor prior to launching the game. Or turn off the 640x480 and see what happens. It is a case of trying out what may/not work.

thank you for your reply. i did try that, it doesnt load without 640x480 and tried every resolution that my monitor works on.
is there a way to make it load windowed?

You could be out of luck. There was news of a steam update ( http://steamcommunity.com/app/441550/discussions/0/357284767236970510/) - have a read there. I would then uninstall the game, remove ALL files - if you have a saved game, just place that on your desktop and move it back in once youve made a fresh install.

Do your fresh install. Play the game. See if its still the same, then exit. Check for the steam update (which was this year) and see if that corrects the problem. With such an old game (its 19 years old!) everything will be hit and miss.

okay i shall try that, that you, yeah i had kept an old win2000 laptop just for playing this game but it died last year

I tried this with my installation but I keep having an error message "Display resolution must be a minimum of 640x480 using 256 colors".
I'm using Windows 10 on a MacBook Pro with Bootcamp, which I guess has something to do with it, but I can't figure out what.

Unfortunately you could be out of luck. This game wasn't around when Bootcamping was a thing and probably missing the old 3d graphic stuff to make it work.

Search out 'get star wars rebellion working on a mac' in google and looking for a solution there. There's some 'wrappers' and porting kits that may still work.

I've tried all these and i still cannot get the game to run. I'm running windows 10 as well. I've gotten Empire at war to work but this game is giving me a much harder time and i really want to try it. I played the new Fantasy Flight board game version of rebellion and loved and wanted to try this classic game. Sadly i can't and i've been excited for it.
