Ships are rainbow colors

I have a GTX 1080 GC I am using a 2700x CPU How the heck am I getting this weird kind of colors on my ships when I find my self in combat? How do I fix this? I tried using a gog fix but that does not work, proably because that fix is now 2+ years old. SO what am I doing wrong? I really like this game and I would love to play it again. I am having the same issue with the gog version of the game so It has to be something I am doing. Clean installed not using any cheating. Can anyone help?

Thanks but their are no clear directions on how to do what their asking and I am NOT going to download some 3rd party spy ware just to fix a problem.
