Agreed.
The gameplay is what made this game in the first place, and still makes it a great game today.
Shiny graphics would be welcome tho.

Would love a remaster of the strategic portion. The tactical battles, though, could use some help. I never liked that part of the game. It seemed like it wanted to be more complex than it was capable of being and the ships always responded slowly. In the end, I usually just let my AI control the ships' maneuvers while I designate targets.

I would like to see an option where the AI is smarter. Would be nice if whomever you are facing will settle more planets and build bigger fleets. Have it build the death star etc. Find that once you get over the initial struggle when playing in hard mode it is always to easy to win.
High Res Rebellion? Called EAW Awakening of the Rebellion dude. Steiners best mod to date, and one even has to wait for version 3.0 to finaly hit the scene (and i PRAY that it will either be this year in Star Wars (December because that joke about renaming December is quiet funny), or somewhere between now and then). Shure it does not have the depth of diplomacy, yet Empire and Diplomacy? I would admit it if this game would play PRIOR to Yavin and the death star battle, yet it play's after it, so the empire has no real diplomacy going on after disbanding their senat. I would rather love to see rebellion using diplomacy, sabotage and infiltration against empire's brute strengh (empire should be ripped from everything not bounty hunter or probe thus disabeling them from diplomacy actions wich btw. can take entire sectors)

Star Wars Rebellion was the first cd-rom based game I bought, Doom 2 was on floppy disk mind you. It also forced me to rebuild my computer to higher specs. Later on I discovered and learned how to mod this game at a basic level.

Such a classic game that introduced me to so many important things in the world of pcs. I would pay full price for a remastered high res version.

Empire at war came close, but the real-time ground battles SUCKED. Also, the game ended abruptly, as I recall.

Sorry bud, but you just can't compare this to EAW - they are two completely different games.

EAW is a great game. Very enjoyable in many respects. But, (1) as I recall, the time scale is not adjustable, and (2) like I said, the ground game is just a drag and a half. And unfortunately, there's no way to skip it other than letting the AI run it an getting your troops routinely massacred.

Totally agree. I'd pay good money for a contemporary version of this game.

Updated version with selection of era, and use of Star Wars canon or legends. Like you can select Jyn Erso and Cassian Andor, OR you can have Kyle Katarn and Jan Oso.

If you could select Clone War era you can have the CIS vs Republic.

I'd LOVE to see a KOTOR era Rebellion game. Sith get the Star Forge (rather than Death Star). Both sides would get multiple Force sensitive characters.

Imagine a First Order with fully functional Starkiller Base. Blow up an entire sector rather than just one planet at a time like the Death Star.

The slow response times were not a bug, but a feature. One you could reduce with a good Admiral for minor tactical advantage (enemy ships experienced these delays too).

All ships had a delay added before they began to act on orders. Assigning an Admiral to the fleet reduced this delay- with the reduction being greater the higher the Admiral's Leadership skill...

Yet another feature of the game you won't really know about unless you read the manual.

(Note: Combat Rating isn't representative of high-level strategic thinking, which is Leadership: it's ability with a blaster/lightsaber basically. It does enhance chances of capturing or killing enemy agents after ships/troops detect them, but has no impact on space battles or land combat...)

I would love for a remaster of this game. It would be imperative that they keep the original gameplay and content.
