And no sadly you cant add ships from the opositing side to the other. So no ISD or SSD for the rebels and no X-wing for the empire.
One time I tried giving the death star to the rebels, with a 1/1 cost to build/maintain. Discovered that if you send it to blow up Courscant you have to follow a very specific sequence of events to make sure it doesnt just disappear: first you have to send in a fleet to wipe out the empire fleet, then have the fleet leave the day before the death star shows up, then blow up the place. Any space battle with a rebel death star ends in you blowing your own fortress up
