Issue with Xbox One and Xbox Elite Controllers - Status
We receive some feedbacks regarding issues with Xbox One controllers and Xbox Elite controllers not working with PAC-MAN Championship Edition 2.
Xbox 360 and Steam Controllers work perfectly.

We are currently investigating the issue to ensure you will be able to play PAC-MAN Chapionship Edition 2 in the best conditions soon.

So far:
- The issue has been confirmed on Windows 10 systems only.
- Issue occurs after 'Anniversary Update'. After the update Xbox One controllers and Xbox Elite controllers no longer function under Windows 10

To be fair, the diagonal input problem is the number one complaint on every Pac-Man game the last 10 years. It is not fixable due to the controller d-pad output signal.

Explain to the developer you are aware the diagonal cannot be fixed, but that it isn't the most recent issue that started with the latest patch. English may not be their first language. Also keep in mind that you are specifically referring to the PC version of the game.

The answer Namco gave is not acceptable! We don't want a subtle e-sports high-level tweak, but merely working controls! It is certain this is a bug given the specifics of the problems:

1. A change in direction TOWARDS THE LEFT OR RIGHT FROM UP OR DOWN is only registered when the analog stick of the controller is rotated a full 90 deg (i.e. all the way to the left or right).
2. A change in direction TOWARDS UP OR DOWN FROM LEFT OR RIGHT is registered as soon as the analog stick is rotated 45 deg or more (i.e. when the stick is closer to the left or right than up or down). This is how a basic implementation is expected to work.

3. The dead zone of the controller analog stick is too small. Going in a direction and releasing the stick can make Pac-Man go the opposite way due to stick inertia.

NAMCO: PLEASE FIX THIS ASAP. This is 100% reproducible. Note that this problem ironically does not exist in the course selection menu (which can be navigated diagonally without a hitch).

UPDATE 23/11/16: same exact problem with a DualShock 4 using InputMapper.

"We have tested Pac-Man: Championship 2 on our retail systems and found if you push the joystick at a diagonal it will not be able to register the correct input, your movements need to be very accurate. If you are having trouble with this, we recommend using the directional pad instead as this is more accurate.

I will forward your comments to the development team for possible consideration in a future update."

In other words, this is not OUR problem, not theirs. They didn't didn't "sabotage" their own game with the latest patch, we're just not playing it right. Also pay attention to the "possible consideration" line.

I don't expect this game to be patched for a while. They don't care. What a shame.

Holy God this is unacceptable. Diagonal movement isn't recognized? What crap is that? Why is it recognized in CEDX+ then?

Namco needs to be publicly shamed for this.

I've got a question to anybody who is reading this: do the controls work for you or is the game broken for everybody?
UPDATE: OK, NAMCO just doesn't care. I played with the D-PAD. It was not great. Game uninstalled. I'll be weary of NAMCO in the future.

Wow, that really seems like they have no interest in fixing this. I mean, I'm no programmer, but how hard its it to screw up a game that only has 4 directions?

I really wish game outlets knew/paid attention to this.

So, is this Game funktional now together with an XBox One Wireless Controller at Win10 (after Anniversary Update) or not? I really liked PAC-MAN Championship Series DX+ and I am able to play it with exactly this configuration.

Thanks for answering!

On Windows 10, for me at least, I use an Xbox 360 controller with the joystick to play this game, there needs to be a sensitivity option for this game because the joystick on the 360 remote thinks that when I want to stop going west and head north, I move the joystick upwards, but I can't point it 100% upwards, so I put the joystick about 90% upwards and 10% to the right on accident, the game then thinks I want to head to the right, though most of the joystick is pointing upwards, this makes me make several mistakes and makes the game unplayable for me with an Xbox 360 Joystick. Can you either turn the sensitivity down to where when I point the joystick a higher percentage in the direction I want to go, then I go there, or can you just add a sensitivity option?

Thanks

They need to bring back wall sparks & allow the player to hold down the direction they intend to go, I've adjusted to hitting the d-pad at the exact moment I want to turn & it's not as much fun as grinding every turn in Pac-man cedx. Missing a right turn when you are holding down right on the d-pad is just wrong not to mention the analog stick is unuseable

You can blame the recent patch for this.

I've started playing this game and noticed this issue straight away. I've uninstalled the game and will keep it that way until this is fixed.

Thanks for sharing your experience, everyone!

Decided to poke them again about the problem and told them to check steam forums to verify that it's happening for everybody.

"Dear Customer,

Thank you for contacting Bandai Namco Games America's customer support department.

We have sent this information to the development team for further investigation. We have not been informed of any direction in their decision.
