Harder / Buggier Achievement Guide

Hello, so some achievements (notably the globetrotter, clownkoi, and "name a nicheling after a youtuber") achievements are a bit buggy and don't always unlock. I have all the achievements now, so here's some tips and tricks if you're struggling.

Globe Trotter
This one, as amazing as it would be, doesn't actually track the amount of islands you visit on a save file. To unlock this one, you have to hit every island in one play session (on one save file.)

My advice to this one is to open a new save file and make a list. Tick every island as you visit them, and if you can, add a line to say if you've DEFINITELY visited it (either due to accessing it through Whale or if it has a unique landmark / layout like Burning Savannah or Tiny Green.)

For example, mine looked like this.

As you can see, I visited every island and didn't get it. That's where your annotations come in handy. A lot of biomes, Grassland/Peaceful Meadow, Swamp Hill/Sleepy Reeds, First Snow/Summer Mountains can look very similar if you aren't paying attention. If you're yet to get it, go back and find a whale island and 100% travel to some islands you were unsure about. Luckily for me, I made a note of doubt when I went to Peaceful Meadow. I was fairly certain it was as there was only small patches of savannah and swamp each (or was that grassland/s desc? can't remember) but I used a whale island to get back there. Lo and behold, I got the achievement.



Clown Koi
The dev's say there's no issue on their end with this one, but this one's also infamously buggy. Whilst I was rounding out my last few achievements to keep myself occupied for my 1000 day one, I bred a bunch of heat-adept fishers to the oasis since clownkoi seem to spawn in droves over there. All of them had 4 points in fishing and were eating an almost purely clownkoi diet. No achievement? Odd.

Annoying at the time, one was born with only one the fishing tail, leaving him with 2 points in fishing, only a lo chance to catch a clownkoi. Regardless, I sent him into the waters. If a clownkoi went near him, I'd try to catch it anyway. Just in case! At one point, he caught one and I got the achievement. So what gives?

I found another post (will link when I find it again) where another player only got the achievement after a creature with under 4 in fishing caught a clownkoi. So if you're struggling... try that! Think of it as an achievement less about catching clownkoi specifically, and more about catching clownkoi when your creature really shouldn't be skilled enough to lol.


Youtuber Names / Perry The Platypus
I'm gonna group all of these into 1 since they all follow the same logic. Some, like Perry The Platypus, Jessimew, and Seri Pixel Biologist (coincidentally the only two youtubers on this list I watch) I was fine getting. EmmaUniverse and Erose? Not so much.

I was kind of doing these at the same time as both achievements don't conflict with each other. I bred quite a few potential Emmas and Eroses, but none got the achievement. I saw someone on the forums say that "Emma's paws, the claw needs to be (left) and the nimble fingers need to be (right)" (or the other way around, don't remember). Eventually, I managed to switch which paw was on what side, and lo and behold, got the achievement.

With Erose, I changed nothing. I just kept breeding and kept naming any possible candidates, and eventually I got it. Just keep trying, no advice here, sorry.

Racoon Pattern
This one gets its own section because the wiki is wrong. The wiki says "mask pattern, and then big/huge pattern and big/huge density". This led me to believe, "oh, so there's 4 possible combinations," there's not.

I tried huge pattern and huge density and did not get it.

I then moved down to either big pattern and huge density OR huge pattern and big density (don't remember which) and got it.

So that's weird! ... Wiki please update your wording. Maybe my game's just bugged idk.

Survive X Days
This one's not bugged, it just gave me a scare. Once you reach 50/250/1000 days, you then also have to survive that day too. So really you get the achievement at 51, 251, and 1001 days respectively.
