How do you get to the home island?

I've tried using travel guides. But i'm a very inpatient person. So I want to ask, Can anyone explain how to get to the home island in a simple explanation and guide? If anyone is seeking the same question as me, we can work together to find out. Also, I want to get to the home island with home island immunity. So thanks! (Also, If it looks like I got answer, you can always say something so I have more information and answers to pick from.)

Basically, if there is a north/up port go there if not go right. Rinse and repeat. You will eventually get to an island called the crossing island which is pretty small. If you go north/up from there you will get to the home island.

If you don't mind getting there with out home island immunity/ playing story mode you can choose it from the second to last difficulty tier.

What Sparkius said. Also the journey for to the home island in story mode for impatien people (like myself) is a pain in the ass XD It takes a long time especially if you are unlucky with the island generation but you can do it, if you just stick long enough with one tribe and manage your impatience (like I managed to... barely ^^)

If this is your very first tribe, it would probably take a little longer, on my first play through for example, took me 64 hours, but on the second it only took me 44 hours, but you really need to watch that home island immunity.
Just in case, if you find an island way to hard/your tribe nearly died for some reason, go left, it takes you to an easier island, but you do have to travel back to a similar island you had trouble on.
