Challenge Ideas
Any ideas for them? Challenges are fan-made restrictions, that are just put onto games to make them more... Immersive? Challenging? Not very sure :P I have my own idea, which is the warrior cats challenge, which I will write more about later, but hey, maybe other people have ideas too. :3 Anyways, please tell, if you do, in the comments! ^^

But for now, the warrior cats challenge! ^^

This is pretty simple, yet kind of hard to maintain. I'll explain it. Basically, warrior cats is a series by Erin Hunter, about clans of feral cats. Simple enough. But I decided to recreate it.. In niche form! :3 Simply, you have to follow the rules laid down by the series, have one clan, or maybe a number of different clans across some of the larger islands. However, one of the challenges, is that you have to have to be restricted to a certain set of genes, to keep your creatures 'cat-like'. So, i'm gonna quickly go through all the genes that are allowed! ^^

Ears - Normal Ears
Eyes - All
Head - Normal nose, Poison fangs, Spit snout occasionally
Body - Lean body, Normal body, Big body
Paws - No paw, Runner leg, Claw
Tails - Fluffy Tail
Fur Colors - All
Mane Colors - All, though it's reccommened to keep it the same or similar to the creature's fur
Eye Colors - All
Patterns - All
Blood Types - All

So, after that, you might say, what happens if I find an animal with one of the traits that wasn't listed here? Well, that animal would have to be seperate from the clan. Sure, it's kinda sad, but this creature could still be helpful. Maybe hunting away from the clan? However, if the clan stumbles upon an animal with one of the traits not mentioned, they would be treated like a different species.

It is required that the clan’s main source of food is hunting bunnies.

Also, the naming themes! It is required that the name not only has two parts, but is also nature-themed. Examples; Tidepaw, Acornclaw, Skyleap, Foxkit. It seems simple, however, while the first part of the name stays the same through a cat’s life, the second part changes frequently. When a cat is a kit, the second part of the name is kit (Aka, Woodkit). Once apprenticed, it changes to paw. (Woodpaw) and, once a warrior, it gets a randomly chosen last name. It can basically be anything, as long as it’s nature themed! ^^ (Aka, Woodfur, Woodcloud, Woodleaf) Also, while this name stays the same way for deputies, medicine cats often have calmer names. (Mistpond, Leafbreeze, Shimmersky) Oh, and leaders have star at the end. (Nightstar, Fishstar, Badgerstar)

Onto the ranks! ^^

Your cats will have to follow the warrior code. If you don't know what it is, you can look it up. :P However, an important part of warrior cats is their ranks. There are about 7 ranks in total. And I shall explain them! :3

Kits are the, well, kits. They have to stay in the nest with their mother until they can become apprentices. This rank lasts until the kit has two gems. There is no specific gem color for them.

Apprentices are the next up. They have either green or orange gems, and they become an apprentice when they have two of said gems. Once they have reached this age, they are given a mentor. It is required that said apprentice stays around said mentor, so that they can train. Warrior apprentices have orange gems, while medicine cat apprentices have green. Warrior apprentices are training to become warriors, and must be taught by one of them how to fight and hunt. Medicine cat apprentices are taught by the medicine cat how to heal and use herbs. Put simply, warrior apprentices hunt and fight occasionally, while the MC apprentice learns to heal and collects berries for healing purposes.

Warriors are the hunters of the clan. Their main job is to hunt down bunnies and fight off carnivores. They become this rank once a warrior apprentice gains his fourth gem. However, it’s the third gem as of the current version. They have orange gems. They are not allowed to heal any other cats, as that is the medicine cat’s job. Once they come of age, they can have an apprentice of their own.

The medicine cat is the one who heals all the injured cats. Occasionally, they will go out with their apprentice to collect berries. There can only be two of this rank at a time. If a cat is injured, it is required that the medicine cat or it’s apprentice is the one that heals it. They have green gems.

The deputy is the next cat up to be the leader. they are chosen after the old leader dies. In order to become deputy, a cat must have had an apprentice. Medicine cats cannot advance to this. The deputy is defined by two orange gems on the side, with blue in the middle.

The leader is the one that, well, leads the clan. Once the old leader dies, the deputy becomes the new one. The leader has entirely blue gems, and will speak for the caln at gatherings.

I’ll give more information on the challenge later! :3

The No Genetic Board challenge, the only traits you get are the ones your creatures already have.

Another is a challenge where your females will only have another child after the one she's already had grows their second gem, gets hard to manage after a certain number of creatures.

Carnivore challenge is you breed super strong creatures that can't pick berries, so they live off the berries from bushes they cut down and bunnies and carnivores.

Alpha pair challenge only one male and one female have control over a nest until one or both die, so their children or another pair take over the nest every generation.

Genetic isolationism challenge where you don't use the board to mutate new genes but also seperate the tribes so they breed in specific lines after so many generations.

Poison fang challenge where only creatures with poison fangs can breed, it counts if they're a recessive gene as well.

The constant movement challenge, every creature needs to use up all of their moves before you go to the next turn even if you're out of food.

Please tell me more about the warrior Cats challenge :D Huge fan here :)
So I thought of a only 12 or so member challenge but it wasn't really fun or challenging, well at least on the beginner island.
The Alpha challenge is actually quite nice :)

Hard mode challenge (Version 0.1.7): Move Adam and Eve immediately to the red island (skirting around the edge of the island). You can gather berries along the way to make up for lost food. By the time I made it to the island, their lives were half over and I was constantly swamped by enemies. I also played hard mode without the genetics board, so it was additionally cool to see stronger creatures naturally evolve. I loved the challenge and will definitely do it again. (:

I did almost the same but with the second island and with the mutation board though I will do the hard mode challenge too :D

I thought of a couple of new challenges that I still need to try out.

Aesthetics challenge: Ignore immunity genes when breeding. You'll get the creatures you want through inbreeding, but they might not be the most healthy. An added challenge to this is to have a set 'look' to breed for as a kind of goal (i.e. poison fang, big ears, double claw, violet eyes, etc.). This challenge is best without the genetics board.

Friendly Challenge (Version 0.1.7): You must accept every wandering creature into your tribe. Additionally, Horny Males can't be fought off and must be allowed to breed with females. The offspring must be incorporated into the pack and not ostracized (don't intentionally kill them off and carry on their lines).
Optional/Added challenge:
-You cannot kill bunnies as a source of food. You can chase them off of bushes, but trees and berries will be the main source of food.
-You can't kill/injure the turkeys that hog nests.
-You cannot injure/kill carnivores- only run away from them. I'm not sure this would end well if more than two carnivores can spawn at a time.

This is legit how I play normally. The warrior cat challenge sounds to hard to micro without mods, not hard in the since you would fail, but hard in that you'd constantly be screwing up the rules.

Same, they started as challenges but now they're just ways of making the game a challenge.

So to the Warriors Cat challenge, it sounds nice and probably sort of hard as there aren't that many bunnies around all the time so I would think maybe the medicine cat would be the only one to gather berries as they can't really 'heal' a creature. And they should fight the wandering creatures of I think that fits the theme better, but I'll try the warriors challenge as all of my creatures have warrior names anyways ^^
Oh and the kits would have to stay next to their mother but not in the nest with her as they don't grow then :) and maybe the apprentices would be allowed to be two or three tiles away from their mentor.
Also this challenge could be further enhanced when the water update comes in because then you could add RiverClan really well and two runner legs would be WindClan and big bodies ShadowClan with Claws.
Oh and the normal nose is hard to aquire at the moment as it isn't on the mutatin menu, only the big nose

Hi! I started playing the warriors cats challenge, but I was having a hard time thinking up names, so I threw together a cool name generator!

If you've been having a similar trouble, this link should help :)

Nice one though there also is one on 'Fantasy name Generators' but I most of the time don't have any problems as many of my creatures are named in honor of the old leader or a creature that died saving them.
The Warrior Cat challenge is pretty fun, you do a lot of micro managing but that way you look at every creature of your tribe and aknowledge every creature of your tribe though I don't make a only bunny diet as there aren't enough around to support my tribe in the experimental update :)

It spawned from a weird thing don't ask, population troubles will arise trust me
I tried this ( Called it the Elitist Challenge)
To make it a bit easier I allowed the shortsighted creatures to live until I got to the second island.

I had to drown so many beautiful babies that were short sighted! and making sure I didn't lose any immunity genes actually made this so hard. Definitely recommend

Ha, I've been doing this for a while, only I let them all gather berries and hunt, and didn't really think about medicine cats. Love the gem-color idea.
