What genes are best for the jungle?

So I'm in the jungle in story mode in version 1.0.1.
So i get tot the jungle kill an ape all is good, but then on my gathers i finally get toxic to protect my nichelings. Only to find out that being toxic bodied removes one turn.
I already have stinky tail and velvet paw so what should i do to get that extra turn yet be safe from the seeing ape?
(Bearyena hybrids help a lot).
How have you survived the jungle in story mode?
Is toxic body supposed to loose a turn due to it being too hot?

Toxic Body removes the one point of Heat Resistence that Medium Body gives, so you will lose a turn unless it's raining or your creatures start their turn in the water.

I've been safe from the Seeing Ape with Medium Body by having Stripes or Dots and at least one Black Fur Colour. This gives them 7 in camoflauge when in the Jungle grass, which is enough that the Seeing Ape can't spot them unless it's right next to them.

Having a Black and Moss Brown colour combo also gives you the ability to hide in the grassland grass as well.

I've managed to kite an ape around by hiding like that and am about to leave north on my second Jungle island (went right on my first one to the Mountain and then right again back into Jungle)

I would use the following: lean body with dots or stripes, big ears, big nose, velvet paw, stinky tail, ram horns or antlers, maybe a claw :) That way you should be safe from all apes :)

Thank you,sadly lean body is still locked for me since I'm in story mode

I love to play in the jungle, hiding in the grass and sneaking past the apes. I got lean body from a wanderer and eventually bred it to the whole population.
So all look very similar now: lean body, black fur, stripes, ram horns, big nose and a mix of claw, nimble fingers and bearyena claw. Big ears might be a good addition, but so far we are very well adapted.
