What kinds of Niche gods and goddesses do you have in your games?
I'm curious. I've been watching Seri and JessiMew, and been very interested in the lore of their gods and goddesses, like Anameme, Vankir, Elm, Tata, Lala alias Yuki, ect.

I've started coming up with some of my own, for example Keke, the goddess of swamps, venom and sickness, but also healing. Some stuff I've thought out for her:

Keke is a two-faced trickster. Sometimes, she cures and protects from sickness, leeches and mosquito stings, and makes healing fruits regrow. But when her mate Tata gets in the mood of wreaking havoc, he usually convinces Keke to tag along, and together they've made entire tribes go extinct. Devout followers of Keke can rest assured though, knowing that no sickness is going to harm them. To her favourites, she even grants protection from toxins, but those who inbreed carelessly risk that Keke punishes them in the form of a sick, double immunity child. Genes her followers value include Poison Fangs, Toxic Body, Warning Dots and Stinky Tail, as well as unique and rare immunity genes. They are the lead force in medical discoveries, if you're desperate for a cure, try to find them. But beware, some of their poison-fanged medics aren't that careful when plucking the correct kind of healing fruit or other herbs, and accidentally inject some of their poison into it. Or maybe they're actually Keke herself in disguise, who decided that maybe you shouldn't have chosen your cousin as a mate. Regardless which of the two possiblities are true, be careful what you eat if you go there; Keke's followers are usually immune to poison, but you probably can't say the same about yourself.

Now I wanna hear about your own ideas :D Maybe you've got an intricate lore with several gods and goddesses, and maybe even demigods? Or you're focusing on just a few? You've never heard of the idea of roleplaying in Niche, or making up a system of beliefs for your creatures, but this sounds interesting? Go ahead and reply, I'll gladly read it :3

Vantaku: god of the mountain and Laresi: goddess of twins
HighlyIllogical Jun 8, 2017 @ 3:02pm
So far I have:

Aluet- Goddess of the mountains, snow and warmth.

Personality - calm, cold, strong, leader-like, wise

She is a snow white paternless creature with a big nose, big body and fluffy tail. She guides her followers through survival in the mountains. When her followers heed her teachings she rewards them with warmth during harsh winters and sends forth a reincarnation to carry on her legacy. Her reincarnations display white paternless fur, black or blue eyes, normal ears, big nose, fluffy tail, big body, runners leg and claw.

Topaz and Amber - Goddesses of twins, fertility and desirability.

Personality - motherly, always together, patient, perfectionists

These goddesses were originally born as lemon colored, black eyed, fisher tailed, medium/normal bodied, double runner legged identical twin females. Although their reincarnations can come in many different shapes and sizes as long as they are desirable twins. These goddesses bless those who pay close attention to healthy genes and work hard to maintain them. She rewards them with twins, high fertility, and healthy children with desirable traits.

I usually play with warrior cats names and lore and therefore it is kind of hard to have gods and godesses like you do. Though I had one great leader I still remember to this day:
Birchstar- the great guardian and caretaker, if you stick to the warrior code he'll grant your clan plentyfull food and send good leaders, if you don't sickness may come and ambition could take down everything good leaders have worked for.
Oh and Fierce- she is the godess of war and the warriors, if you want to survive in fights you should pray for her, she gets often reincarnated in females with double claws and poison fangs with grey fur

I create family names, with different backstories for the surname origins, so I don't really have any gods.

For example... All of Adam and Eve's children have the surname Adams. And any new wanderers get a special surname (based on their characteristics) and have their own family branches/lines. I often hypenate the names if there are two families marrying, (e.g., Adams-Pandarm, Derpur-Adams). I especially do this for the prehistoric gene creatures (e.g., Saber, Ceros, Thorsen, Ore, Olef, etc.)

I have a god called Huto: The god of the hunt. Huto will increase the fertility of bunnies in times of great hunger, which mean more babies to feed, which in turn means more adult bunnies leaving their burrows to find food. The creatures can then go and find these bunnies and eat them. Worshippers of Huto are normaly creatures with ram horns, lean or medium body, velvet or runner legs and big nose. Huto used to live on the mountain side with his family before a giant snowstorm came and forced all the bunnies and moles into the saftey f their holes. The mountain they were on had no berry bushes and their tribe not being used to starvation, had a few too many children and all starved. Now, Huto watches over tribes, mainly mountainus tribes, and tries his hardest to make sure that none the of the tribes meet the same fate his tribe did. He has no specific color, but he does have a certain appearance. He is a medium body double runner's leg big nosed medium tail creature, who when reborn, spends most of his time hunting the rabbits and gathering as many berries as he can before he is called once more to the sky, where he will continue to watch over the tribe he was just with until their end.

I have Lark, who is more of a legendary figure than a goddess. In one of my save files, I was playing in the mountain biome, and I had four ballance bears spawn one after another. Running wasn't really an option, because they were all over the place. Lark was the only creature I had with poison fangs, and a pretty high strenth stat, too. As a result, she played a critical role in taking down all four ballance bears, by poisoning them and dealing a good deal more damage. (and didn't take a single hit, either!)

After the bears were defeated, she retired to the top of the mountain, where she had three children, before dying of old age.

In my world, the nichelings believe in these people:

Horns the God- a long time ago, in a small, but lush island, a mother had a hybrid. He named him Bearyena II, after his very brave father. It was a bearyena- and a nicheling. It beared the paws and face of a bearyena; but had the body of a nichelin. His mother and the tribe cared oh-so much over the small child because how important he was. One day, the elderly hybrid crossed the sea with his new tribe in search of a new island. They found one- but only to be killed one by one of old age. While it is sure that Bearyena II did nothing heroic- he is still talked about today all because of how strong he was and how he's somewhat of a role model. He was renamed Horns by a father telling the story of Bearyena II to his children.

Skye the Goddess- she controls the weather. One day while roaming the large island her tribe inhabited, a tsunami struck and only swept away Skye. When she landed on a new island she discovered a magical blue gem on the shorelines. She found some string and attached it to her antlers, because she thought it would look pretty on her. It did, but she didn't know what potentials it had. One day she made rain fall just by saying "I wish it could rain." When she noticed how hot she was suddenly it snowed. A couple of days later she figured out what was going on and used it to the best of her ability. She died of old age, but people still say if you find the island she laded on you might see her doing her work.

Right now I have: (Note: Most of these are from very old tribes I had Xd)

Winter - The god of fish. He was the one who saved my tribe from hunger by fishing.

Meme - Goddess of the savanah. She came into the tribe and brought lean body and big ears while we had been dying of lack of heat resistance.

Bat - The God of war. Bat was the one who saved the tribe from the apes with his giant claws.

Sugarloaf - Goddess of healing. On her last day she found a healing fruit. Instead of healing herself to survive, she let her ill nephew eat it instead.

That's all I have right now :3

My only god right now is Thana. She is an albino female with big body, ram horns, and short snout. She is the goddess of sickness and specializes in sick Nichelings. She believes that even sick Nichelings deserve to live. If a tribe keeps their sick children, Thana will award them with protection from the child's sickness, bountiful rains, and she will also help against further sickness. But if she sees any sacrificing of any creature, young or old, sick or not, the tribe will expect mass deaths, sickness, and shortage of food.

I currently have only one goddess, Analasi. Analasi is the Goddess of Survival. She was the only one born in her small family to not be sick, and thus she fled to an island, alone. There she found a wanderer but couldn't afford to invite him into the tribe. She forced herself to breed with him, and she did, escaping to the savannah. There she had her first child. Soon, due to a lack of food she had to leave and go live in the swamps. There she found another wanderer that she could invite into the tribe, to be her son's mate. Genetics didn't count right then, she needed to survive. And she wasn't going to breed with her own son. She was a very strong Nicheling, A spiky body, A claw and antlers, which adds up to Strength 5. She passed that down to her son, who had double claws, who passed that down to his children, to this day most members of that tribe have managed to keep her mighty antlers and claw(s) in their genetics. She'll watch over the tribes, in times of scarce food, diseases that are spreading, times where incest can't be avoided, etc. She'll visit the Nichelings closest related to her (Antlers, claws, spiky body, melanism) in their dreams, and guide them to succes. Or she may simply shower them in rain, making sure that the tribe will be fed, or sending a relatively healthy wanderer their way.

She's the only god(dess) i've got for now. I just thought i managed to make her family tree thrive quite well, thanks to her bravery and courage to stay alive, while many other Nichelings would have given up in life. (or at least i would, but i didn't give up on her because i thought her genetics were way too precious xD)

They don't have quite human-level intelligence, so if you were to ask my tribe about things like gods they'd probably find the idea very strange and they can't really fathom an ultimate beginning. To them, everything is an endless cycle, circles and more circles. This is how things were and always will be. Maybe your kin or the environment will look different, but it will always be there just as it always was. With every animal, cubs are born and elders die, things are found and things are lost. It's why you see them repeating names and going through the same motions propogating the cycle. I'm not sure they fully grasp the abstract implications of the overall idea but the beginnings are there, at least.

In one of my very first tribes, a wanderer stumbled into the clearing near a tree where my gatherers were stationed. His name was Vankirta, a beautiful orange Nicheling with runner paws, spiky body, dark orange spots, black eyes, big nose, and red ram horns/spikes. My tribe was desperately in need of new immunity genes- we had already suffered many casualties from sickness. As such, Vankirta took on many mates and became the father of many other important Nichelings, such as my other gods and goddesses. He pulled together the failing tribe and made them one again, earning his title as the God of Leadership and Parenthood. His dying wish was for the tribe to move to the new island, one big enough to accommodate the massive tribe, one big enough to feed them, to give them all nests. New parents may pray to Vankirta for their new baby to be healthy, brave, and influential, as well has granting them a good childhood.

The only mate Vankirta ever loved, though, was named Lame (pronounced la- mei, lol). She was a derp-snouted Nicheling with beautiful red fur, a swimming tail, brown antlers, warm brown eyes, and a runner leg + nimble fingers. She was commonly known as the kindest Nicheling on the Tiny Green, often visiting the sick Nichelings to help them feel better. Vankirta was instantly drawn to her personality and fell deeply in love with her, but unlike many other females, they only had a few kids together. However, they were very important! Lame's habit of visiting sick creatures to cheer them up gave her the title of Goddess of Healing and Comfort- a well-known legend is that the first healing fruit the tribe ever saw grew on the very same place she died. Sick Nichelings often pray to Lame for the growth of healing fruits. All purr-snouted creatures are blessed by Lame.

One of Vankirta's many important children was his son, Taduk. He had a big body, short snout, dark red fur, a swimming tail, brown eyes, red-brown ram horns, a pink mane, and a runner leg + nimble fingers. As he grew up, he noticed the injustice and discrimination happening on the Tiny Green- many of his relatives treated "commoners" like dirt just because they weren't related to Vankirta. He had enough of watching his friends suffer, launching a massive island-wide civil rights movement to eradicate discrimination and teach everyone to love people no matter their differences. Due to this, Taduk earned his title as the God of Love and Equality, making sure that all tribes he watched over were fair and loving, even in his death. Nichelings suffering bullying or discrimination often pray to Taduk so their abusers know what they're doing wrong. Nimble-fingered wanderers tend to be a sign that a tribe is being watched over by Taduk.

The 3 gods above make the "Big 3", the most powerful or influential gods. However, there are many more minor gods and goddesses! These are the ones in Vankirta's tribe:

Early in the misty morning, 2 half-brothers were born on the same day. Their father was Vankirta, their mothers simple common gatherers. Their names were Vanku and Nuku, the first god pair in my lore. They both looked very similar- they shared creamy white fur, a runner leg, the short snout, swimming tails, brown ram horns, and spots. However, Vanku had a big body, one runner leg and one nimble hand, green eyes, and purplish spots while Nuku had a medium body, 2 runner legs, brown eyes, and light orange spots. From the day they were born, they were inseparable- always by each other's side when playing with the other kids, when eating, when sleeping, when hunting. It was no surprise to the tribe when they fell deeply in love and had multiple surrogate children. Together, they led the migration to the island Vankirta foretold before his death before passing away side-by-side on the new Grass Mingle. In death, they have a ying-yang force, Vanku bringing rains to a tribe and Nuku giving sunshine.

On the Grass Mingle Vankirta had foretold, the Sisterhood of Hunter-Gatherers (a matriarchal group mainly composed of creatures with ram horns and one runner leg + one nimble hand) celebrated the birth of a baby boy named Rokirduk. His mother, however, wasn't so sure of his status- he was skinny and tiny, barely strong enough to kill a rabbil. He was very clearly related to Nuku- he shared his creamy fur, medium body, ram horns, and both his paws, but he had the purple spots of Vanku. He even had the violet eyes, a rare gene that only Vankirta and his offspring carried. He also had strong, jet-black ram horns and a big nose. In order to prove to his mother that he was strong enough to survive, he used brilliant strategy and his wits in a duel against his mother, and won! This earned him the title of God of War and Battle Strategies. Nichelings blessed by Rokirduk are often very smart and forward-thinking, and always weigh their options carefully before making an important choice.

Taduk's daughter, Isrere, always had an affinity for animals. She looked just like a graceful deer, with light brown fur, brown eyes, a big body, big snout, runner leg + nimble fingers, and elegant brown antlers. She was born on the Tiny Green so the only animals she saw in her life were rabbils, but once she got to the afterlife, she got an enormous Grass Mingle with every single biome and every single animal. It's called the Sanctuary, where the cycle of death and rebirth is regulated among animals with Isrere watching over it.

BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE ;D
I still have a few gods and goddesses that are very important to the lore, just not related to Vankirta (I would make this all one post but I think there's a 1000 word cap oof)

In a tiny, secluded tribe, a litter of children were born to beautifully masked parents. They had other siblings, but 2 stood out- Koko and Raisre. Koko had a big nose, velvet paw + runner leg, creamy fur, black eyes, and a thin, delicate black mask. Raisre had a big nose, claw + velvet paw, beautiful brown fur, and a trident-shaped clay-colored mask. Raisre always had a passion for sculpting, taking clay from the riverbeds and creating ultra-realistic Nichelings that Koko always painted with her velvet paw. In the afterlife, Raisre was tasked with sculpting baby Nichelings out of clay while her sister and the other pattern painters gave it a coat.

But there are other pattern painters! 3 siblings- Kununu, Laana, and Anais- were also born from masked parents into a small, peaceful tribe. Kununu had a short snout, runner leg + claw, brown eyes, and red fur. However, his mask made it look like most of his fur was pink. The top of his chest, most of his face, and some of his arms looked like they were dipped in pink paint. Laana and Anais looked very similar- they shared their short snout, brown eyes, and double claws. Laana had red fur with a pink trident mask, and Anais had red fur with an orange trident mask. In life, they painted with whatever materials they could find. Mud, berry juice, healing fruit juice, and sometimes even the blood of rabbils were used as paints. When they got to the afterlife, they earned their titles as Pattern Painters, where they created the patterns on the fur of babies about to be born.

Koko's tribe, however, took a dark turn when she decided to run off with her mate Kuvan to a different island. They shared an immunity gene, and every single one of their children were sick except for one. A baby cloaked entirely in black. She had black fur, black eyes, and a black mask with double runner legs, big ears, and a big nose, named Anakoko. In life, she was the one to lead her dying siblings' souls to the afterlife, earning her title as the Goddess of Sickness and Death, part of the cycle of rebirth. After her entire family was gone and she was the only one left in her tribe, she nomadically hopped islands until she passed peacefully on the shore and joined the afterlife.

Someone has to counter Anakoko, though. On the breezy shores of the archipelago, Adam's descendants welcomed a beautiful baby named Koko (coincidentally the same name as our lead pattern-painter) into the tribe. She had a short snout, big body, moss brown fur and eyes, 2 runner legs, and light brown stripes. In life, she would come to the side of a dying creature to help them pass peacefully in the night. She started the shaman line, a family dedicated to communicating with spirits and helping dying creatures' souls reach the afterlife safely. In the afterlife, she has a temple where she decides which spirits get to be reincarnated into new babies. You'd think her and Anakoko are enemies, but together they complete the cycle of rebirth. Their powers would be useless without the other half of the pair, and as such, they are very close.

On the very same archipelago where Koko lived, one of her close descendants named Nebula was born. She shared the big body, double runner legs, and beige stripes, but Nebula had piercing blue eyes, black fur, poison fangs, and a big stinky tail. She spent most of her life as a recluse, receiving prophecies and omens from the afterlife through dreams. When she got to the afterlife, she sent dreams to mortal Nichelings to communicate.

On the last island of Adam's archipelago, a small exploration patrol stumbled across possibly the most beautiful creature they had ever seen. His name was Kirku, and he was travelling with another creature named Kome. Kirku had electric red fur with white dots, black eyes, a cracker jaw, webbed hind legs, webbed paw + runner leg, stunning black ram horns, but most importantly, a grand spotted peacock tail. His friend, Kome, was not nearly as grand: she sported pink fur with soft gray dots, velvet paw + claw, a brown bird beak, and blind silver eyes. In life, Kirku was known to help bolster the confidence of creatures who didn't like they way they looked along with his best friend Kome. In the afterlife, he planted a vast, beautiful garden with a bounty of food and life. He often visits the insecure in their dreams, earning his title as the God of Beauty and Confidence. The peacock tail is considered a sacred gene to his followers.

Honorable mentions:
Rara, the derp-snouted, purple toxic-bodied goddess of fruits and the cycle of growth.
Larela, the blind snake of wisdom and knowledge.
Tavankir, the red-furred, scorpion-tailed, no-pawed, blind, platypus-beaked god of the 6th Sense.
Memeko, the first naturally winged creature, goddess of travel.
Anako, the pink-masked, double-clawed protector of young children. Her twin Meanala was stolen by a bluebird, so she vowed to never let that happen again.

That's all! Thanks for reading all of this lol
