Too fast? 144hz Panel
I am playing on my 144hz monitor and initally it was insanely fast, like bonkers. After perusing the forums I found turning on vsync might fix it. It makes it slightly more bearable but I think something is wrong. I never am prone for seizures or flashing lights but this game gives me a headache after 30 seconds. I think it's a bug, it is crazy fast. I have a GTX1070, i56600k, 12 gigs DDR4 ram and Windows 10.

EDIT: Def was a bug, I turned vsync off and on a few times and now it is normal. Dear lord I thought I was going to die. It was like 300x speed lol

Yeah, that mega-speed problem pops up way more than we'd like. Sorry about that, just didn't catch it even after rigorous testing.
Flip off vsync (as you've discovered) and make sure the game is updated.

No problem man, I am sure you guys can get it ironed out. I love this game! How have I never heard of it?!?!? I actually was brought here by El Huervo's art he drew for the game. He posted it on Facebook and it looked right up my alley. Flappy bird meets hotline miami, brilliant!

Glad it runs okay with vsync off. Loving the game. :)

Are you guys working on cleaning up that super-fast 144hz bug? Or since there's an easy fix, will you just leave it as-is? Just curious.

Our programmer is off climbing in Greece, but I think I speak for him when I say that the ideal is to have no bugs at all. In fact, I think we thought this one was squashed, so it's certainly interesting to hear people are still have troubles. We're on the case!

Sweet, confident you guys can get it figured out.

Had the same problem, at first I was like ♥♥♥♥, that game is really, reall hard ahah. I had to turn vsync off and also limit the FPS to 60 in the AMD control panel for RunGunJumpGun.

This game runs terribly on my 144hz monitor. The fps wavers between 40-60 instead of a steady 60. Turning v-sync off and on didn't work. Using AMD control pannel to limit frames to 60 didnt work.

I enjoy this game but I may have to return it because it doesn't run well

Oh, god, I thought this game was just insanely difficult. I mean, not that it's not, but... my monitor runs at 165hz. I knew the game was going to be hard when I got it, but I wasn't expecting this hard. I made it up to level 12 though.

Haha, I can breathe between deaths now.

Same issue on my end, I'll try hitting vsync on and off a few times.

**edit** refunded, wasn't worth changing my monitors refresh everytime I wanted to play. Nice art, simple idea that was fun however I can't really excuse not using delta timing in a game, we're way past the days of that.

On a 144hz, go to your monitor settings at change your monitor refresh rate to 60hz. Keep vsync on, then it plays as designed :)

Game was really fun, but I had to get it refunded too as changing my monitor's refresh rate every time was a pain :(

Edit: Nevermind, it was only $0.79 so I'm opting to keep it to play it on my TV.

This bug still exists 5 years later. I assume the devs have abandoned the game. Adding a frame limit isn't a difficult problem for them to solve.

NVIDIA Video Card Framerate Workaround
  • NVIDIA Control Panel
  • 3D Settings
  • Manage 3D settings
  • Program Settings tab
  • Add
  • Select rungunjumpgun.exe (Located in your steamapp\common\rungunjumpgun directory)
  • Max Frame Rate - 60 FPS
  • Vertical Sync - Off
  • Apply

I run 30 levels with that crazy fast speed on my 144hz monitor, I though it was normal, then I quit because it was to hard. Later I watch the trailer and I finally understand that something is wrong with my game.

Insane!
