Down the well
Is there any reason NOT to give the ring from the well to the gentleman who wants it? Does anyone know?

The ring sells for more than you get from him, but giving him the ring is the only way to get that specific quest reward, I believe. So basically, it's good if you're broke at that point, but hardly anyone ever is!
