VirtualHere for Steam Link

VirtualHere for Steam Link

Logitech G29 steering wheel
Just bought VirtualHere - connected up my wheel to the steam link, and can see it detected by VirtualHere on the steam link and also on the main PC (says in use). Load up a game, and its not detected at all. Anyone manage to get this wheel working with the steam link and virtual here ?

hi, i apologize for using the same thread for my problem but it is sort of similar. The only main difference is that I'm trying to stream from my Main PC to my HTPC out in my living room both using windows 10 64bit. I cant get the g29 to work and its very frustrating as I've spent several hours trying to work this out. I can't follow step 3 as you mentioned because it's not a steam link, unless that is possible? I would appreciate it a lot and I'm practically done with fiddling around. thank you!

EDIT: only buttons work on the g29 :( I cant get the pedals, shifter or the wheel to register in the device manager

Yeah using the virtualhere windows server to share gaming controllers, generally doesnt work. I havent yet spent enough time investigating the issue as the windows server is not really for that use-case, its mainly for companies who need to share scanners or licensing dongles.
ahh thats unfortunate :( so I will not be able to use my g29 for as long as its not implemented? could I perhaps look forward to g29 compatibility using virtualhere in the future? thanks for a very quick response, I appreciate it

Thinking more about this, i think the G29 needs to not have a usb reset sent, could you try this

It should work the same way on a windows server as on the steam link regarding the custom event handler
I have and it doesnt work sadly. I assume its supposed to show me an error message showing it's disconnected or something, thats what happened to me and did what the rest of the steps needed but no luck.
Hi All,

I am using cable to Host and Wifi AC to client. Tested (Non steam game)Project Cars, Assetto Corsa and NFSShift2. Running I7 2600k@4ghz 16gb ram and nvidia GTX 1060 6GB VRAM.

I tried 1080P I always see less than 1ms input lag but its the display that seems to stutter and chop in and out when used with the G27/29 wheel.
After dropping it to 720P and playing around with the bitrate etc its now way more playable with like less than 1 ms input lag and 50-60 display lag? I think its called but on 1080 p the display lag jumps to about 180ms ONLY when using the wheel though.

So that might help others, I am using a Viper Dlink 1900AC wireless router on 5ghz AC Only scanned the channels for no interference configured my QOS to steam link being highest followed by my host pc. Mind you I am a network engineer so my knowledge on routing and switching is more than suffice.

Another thing is the less devices you have plugged in to the steam link the more it'll improve the display lag caused from return trips of the input/sound/display transmission packets. So once you're in the racing game with wheel and VH ready to go. disconnect all other devices and have only your wheel connected.

Also using firmware 640 i briefly tried the 643 beta one but that seems to be worse. That's the only two firmware I've tried.

Can others who have tried it report back with firmware, type of connection, settings used, video card type etc

VH Dev feel free to contact me for any testing if you need. I'm sure there are a large number of people like myself trying to get Project Cars working on their projectors because their cockpit or mount is too big to fit in the office/room :) I am sure VH could be more optimized for other types of inputs eg wheels/flight sim dock etc.

Hope this helps.

OK, i got it working like this

1. Make sure switch is in PS4 mode
2. Start virtualhere and streaming and then minimize big picture and bring up the virtualhere client by clicking on the virtualhere icon at the bottom right.
3. See "Steam Link" listed there , then right click on the "G29 Driving Force Wheel" and then select "Custom Event Handler..." and enter exactly this:

onReset.$VENDOR_ID$.$PRODUCT_ID$=

then press OK
4. Unplug your wheel
5. Plug in your wheel into the link again.
6. Now try again with the wheel.

If this works ok for you guys ill get valve to set this a the default configuration so this workaround doesnt have to be done. Let me know.

This works perfectly for me, thank you so much.

Use windows 10, windows 7 is not supported
I am having this problem. before i remote play , i can use the wheel iin the steamlink menu. Once i get into remote play, my wheel doesn't work. Is there a reason for this. I did the whole Custom event handler and still doesn't work.
It didn't work for me either!
The problem i had however was, that the Logitech Profiler didn't work anymore with the latest Windows 10 build. I now have to use Logitech Gaming Hub and the wheel is detected on pc again.
After i installed that software i can use this wheel.
The rev-leds don't light up..but...at least it's working ^^

Link to Logitech G Hub:
https://support.logi.com/hc/de/articles/360024850133--Downloads-G29-Driving-Force-Racing-Wheel

This software seems to be a bit invasive though...it instantly asked for all permissions about my discord Profile and which servers i use and so on - i denied access to that....oh well...
