VirtualHere for Steam Link

VirtualHere for Steam Link

Anyone have luck connecting a headset through Xbox controller?
I've been fighting around with the software for a little over an hour now, and have Googled to try and find answers but so far have been unsuccsessful.

I'm trying to get my Xbox One headset (which connects to the controller) to show up on my devices list so that I can use this headset in Discord while I play on the Steam Link.

I use this controller / mic setup outside of the Steam Link on my desktop without any issue, so I figured I'd spend the $20 and give this a try.

Anyone else have trouble with this, or would it be better to refund the $20 before I hit 2 hours using VH? Any help would be appreciated.

How is the Xbox controller attached to the steam link, via the wireless dongle, or usb cable?

The controller is connected via USB cable, not using wireless.

I think you can just make sure the xbox controller is shared in the system -> VirtualHere menu then click Start streaming and then, minimize big picture and see if there is an extra headphone/microphone listed in windows as available in playback and record settings in windows. Then you can switch to that source for input/output of sound

Thanks for the quick responses!

Trying again, I got the mic to show up in the recording devices list, but it still wasn't recording any sound. I tried again with Steam in administrative mode, same thing. Any ideas?

I think you need to make sure that microphone is selected as the default "Recording Device", same for the headset in "Playback Devices"

If you have an xbox controller on pc via usb with a 3pin headset plugged in and discord mic does not work but windows mic does, try to change your audio subsystem to legacy instead of Standard in the video and voice settings

Just did this and it works perfectly with discord using xbox controller wired with (original xbox)headset with a pc. Thanks, searched far and wide for this solution. Thanks CHEW.
