VirtualHere for Steam Link

VirtualHere for Steam Link

Thrustmaster T150
Hi, according to VirtualHere description, it "allows you to use the XBox One Wireless Controller, steering wheels, microphone, flight sticks, and many other devices"; however I can't use my T150 because it isn't correctly detected after sharing from steam link.

Here I will report the steps I followed:
- installed drivers on host pc (directly connecting the T150)
- tested T150 (while directly connected) → works
- installed VirtualHere on host pc
- started VirtualHere on host pc
- switched on the steam link
- connected steam controller and T150
- shared T150 from steam link
- started streaming
- started Project Cars
- T150 not detected/doesn't work

If you need any other info/log or you want me to test with other games, just ask.

Thanks for your help.

What occurs is that the wheel is in a default mode (probably xbox or something). Then when its first connected some special commands are sent to the wheel to tell it to switch modes to pc mode and 720 degrees for the wheel etc. This is why virtualhere skips issuing a USB RESET to the wheel so it doesnt interrupt this sequence. Thats the theory and it seems to work ok, so im not sure why yours is not. Is it not actually working? Does it matter if its recognized as FFB instead of T150, does it miss some features?

The Thrustmaster drivers don't recognise the wheel when its in the PS3/PC + FFB mode - it doesn't show up in the control panel. This means that games like Assetto Corsa won't see it either.

When plugged straight to my pc and the switch is on the PS4 side, the wheel is recognised by the drivers as FFB but there is no input. On PS3/PC, the usb sequence installs drivers and when successful, it switches up the FFB to T150.

Through steam link and virtualhere the USB plugin driver install fails. Do you have any clue as to what could cause this? Admin rights?

Do you think you could setup ssh access to your steamlink for me, perhaps i can login an try to fix it? If so, email me at mail@virtualhere.com and ill tell you how to setup ssh if you dont know already. then i will ssh in and then change some settings in the virtualhere server regarding USB port control and then try it on my remote client.

Sent you mail.
Hey so it seems like my Thrustmaster T150 is being recognized but its acting like the controller is holding on to the down key, or sliding the mouse continuously down making it impossible to use. But also can't get the controller to respond in game, but sort of works in the steam fullscreen menu or steamlink menu. Also its listed as Thrustmaster FFB Wheel in the settings. Would my steam controller be affecting it?

@CartoonistDude: I can reproduce the problem and its the steam client issue. I will pass this on to valve (I ran the T150 over virtualhere outside steam and it works fine (doesnt continuously mousedown) so its definately something in big picture mode..)

I can confirm this.
My workaround is to halfpush the brake pedal, then the issue goes away and I can use bigpicture mode.
IMHO the issue is related to the pedal configuration: you can choose from "mixed mode" or "separated mode"; in "separated mode" (which is the default and also the good choice for most games), the brake pedal is shown as "Y axis" with these values:
- not pushed → -255
- full pushed → 255
- half pushed → 0
So the "-255" value for the Y axis is interpreted by bigpicture as "scroll down", also this is why halfpushing it (and keeping it halfpushed), solve the problem temporarily.

thanks ansa89! That will be helpful for valve, i have passed this issue onto them

Ok valve said the mouse down issue is likely fixed in steamlink beta 533 coming soon
Happy to hear that.

This is the same problem with my Thrustmaster 458 Italia. I don´t find a workaround :(

Ok, the mouse down issue was meant to be fixed in 538 but i tried it with my T150 and it still doesnt work. The mouse stays down. I have passed this back to valve to fix again...
I'm trying to play F12016 with my thrustmaster t150 through steam link. It just doesn't work. My wheel is shared under the name Thrustmaster FFB Wheel. I then have the same scrolling down issue. I'ts not a big problem because it's easy to get around but it's just annoying. I then try to race but the controls are all wrong and I'm looking to side of my car. To my knowledge there isn't something I can do to fix this.

Does someone know a solution to this?

Thank you

Ok what is happening is valve is buying a T150 so they can fix the issue and then they will update the steam client and steamlink firmware so its definately fixed
Pardon the bump, but for those who found this thread while searching Google for T150 compatibility with VirtualHere, I want to state that VirtualHere worked flawlessly with my T150 and I had no issues getting it to work. TH8A shifter, T3PA pedals and my Fanatec CS Handbrake (much to my surprise) also worked with no problem.

My guess is that these issues have been solved since 2016 through patching, or people don't know how to make use of this app. Check out my review of the app here on Steam.
