Can't launch game

When trying to start the game my entire Steam locks up. When I try leaving it to see if it'll load, after about 2 minutes Steam shuts down and has to be restarted. When I check the task manager, it says that Banzai Escape.exe is open twice, even after it fails to launch and crashes Steam, and the processes can't be stopped.
I've tried restarting my computer and launching it again, changing my sound from surround sound to stereo, reinstalling the game, shutting down all other processes before launching, and launching the game directly from the .exe (which then caused Windows Explorer to crash instead). Also tried running the .exe as administrator and using compatability options, as well as installing some windows updates.
No idea what's causing the problem, I defenitely meet the recommended requirements and all my drivers are up to date, though the entire issue seems to revolve around the .exe.
Anyone got any suggestions?

Nevermind I finally fixed it. Seems Avast Anti-virus has some problem with the .exe it didn't want to tell me about, but adding it into the anti-virus exclusions makes the game work. Oddly doing the same seems to make Yohjo Simulator work too... huh... maybe it's time to get an anti-virus that doesn't have a problem with anime games...
