DOUBLE ACTION FAQ
What is DOUBLE ACTION?
BLUE REVOLVER DOUBLE ACTION is a large-scale, free update to our game. We wanted people to have the best possible version of our game, and didn't want to put such an upgrade behind DLC etc. There's rebalancing, extra weapons/content, new features and options, and more.

You can see a full, extremely exhaustive changelog here: https://danboland.net/DA_FINAL_CHANGES.html

Can I play the old 1.12 version?
Absolutely. It's available as a beta branch in the game's properties in your Steam library -- look for the "1.12" branch. 1.12 and DA use different save/config files. Obviously, we don't support 1.12 going forward.

I have an Intel-based Mac and some things are disabled
Due to an issue with our Steam integration library, we've had to disable Steam integration on Intel-based Macs. This means achievements and leaderboards. I don't have one of these machines so there's not much I can do about this right now.

I use an old/atypical controller and the game doesn't recognise it
We use a new gamepad API in this version. Use "-legacycontroller" as a launch option to use the old API. The input prompts may no longer be accurate, but it should be playable.

I'm having trouble with the break bonuses.
There's an in-game video guide, but obviously that's not a perfect solution. I've created a text guide here: https://danboland.net/brda-break-guide.html

I played the public beta, what's new in this final version?

I'm a deals enthusiast?
It is extremely unlikely that this game will drop below 50% off. We don't believe niche games mix with deep discounts -- we've had to work hard for our "Overwhelmingly Positive" rating, and that would be threatened by a bunch of randoms getting the game for pennies and not understanding it on its own terms.

Thanks for the update! How can we support you?
There's plenty of work behind this update, but it's free because we didn't want to lock these improvements behind DLC. Feel free to consider:

  • Buying a gift copy for a friend
  • Leaving a Steam user review -- we've cleared the Overwhelmingly Positive threshold now! Thank you!

What's next?
Further content updates for BRDA are extremely unlikely. We will hotfix critical issues if they arise. Most of the team, myself included, are going to be working on new things, so look forward to those!

Volt Cable buff is surprising, it was already the most broken weapon 99% of the time. Feels strange now you have to run away to avoid doing too much damage, haha.

Unfortunately already found a small bug: if you open and close the menu after the music has stopped after defeating a boss, it'll start playing again suddenly at full volume.

Fixed an issue where using the 1.12 branch on 64-bit Windows gives the player the wrong version of the game.

We're aware of a crash in mission mode when using gadgets in a vertical orientation, and will deploy a hotfix tomorrow.

We've just pushed 1.50a. This hotfix is for a crash in mission mode when using gadgets with vertical orientation. No other changes.

Just snagged a 1cc of DA Hyper, feeling pretty slick. The additional extends in the midgame helped keep me out of those "last life, no bomb" situations that I kept finding myself stuck in as an intermediate shmup player, and a bit of practice helped me learn Stage 5 well enough to kill the final boss with lives to spare.

Thanks for your work, Danbo. Hoping you can get the 500 total reviews on Steam--it's so close!
Do the little star emblems underneath a special weapon on the select screen denote the tiers of difficulty the player has cleared the game on using that specific weapon? If so, I just cleared Normal difficulty with Dee's Pierce and I got two emblems instead of just one.

This might be related to the fact that I had previously cleared Hyper difficulty using Dee with Salvo as my selected special

not quite -- one is for clearing on any difficulty, one is for hitting a score target (depends on weapon, ballpark is 100m), one is for clearing on parallel mode

You did it Danbo, overwhelmingly positive, 501 reviews!

Congrats on the release 1.51. It's really awesome work!

Small issue:
No idea why it happened, but the replay file didn't save the player name correctly.

Sorry, this was wrong information.
In case the score is lower than 5th place on the local ranking, the name entry dialog does not appear and as a result a replay file without player name is created.
