But seriously, I'm glad that they releasing it. I'm a big fan of BlazBlue series. :Noel:

Does anyone know if I can play this without playing any other game from the series before?

you need to play xblaze code embryo first

It's not necessary to read Blazblue games, but as Hackvize already said you have to at least read XBlaze Code: Embryo.

Short answer: yes.

While XBlaze is set in the same universe as Blazblue, it's set many years prior and the connections between the two are mostly negligible. XBlaze tells its own story that requires no knowledge of Blazblue.

There is a another XBlaze entry in the series, but Lost Memories isn't a sequel so much as it's an abridged version of Code:Embryo with an added epilogue and sideplot (and some simple, pointless 2D walking gameplay). It covers the same plot but with the annoying mechanics and some inconsequential segments removed, though some major action scenes are missing as well and are only mentioned in passing.

You're honestly probably better off getting XBlaze Code:Embryo since it tells more of the story, but you can get Lost Memories instead if you really want and not be totally lost (at least, not any more than intended).
If you do get Lost Memories, it's worth noting that the black memories take place after an event near the end of the game and are very spoiler-heavy, so if one is available at the start, don't view it (I'm not sure if this was unlocked for me because I had data from the first game or if it's unlocked by default).

So I should just get embyro to not get spoiled?

They both cover the same plot, but Lost Memories has a colour-coded scene selection system which may cause you to see events out of order. The main plot is covered by the blue memories which play automatically as you go through the game. Most of the other coloured memories are unlocked by collecting stuff during the 2D walking sections and contain additional, less important scenes that occur roughly around the same time as the blue scenes you unlock. The black memories, on the other hand, all take place very late in the game and when I played the Vita version the first black memory was unlocked at the start. As long as you don't view that memory until you reach the final floor (and the game will let you know when that is), nothing will be spoiled.

This game recaps Code Embyro (and spends way too much time doing so) so you could skip right to this.
