We all know this game is abandoned. It never works more than a day at a time for over a year now.

So it there a way to host a game on our own and just invite friends?

yes, you can create an online lobby or create a closed lobby and your friends

That is the only option, Your request is literally how it already is and has been since they shut off the dedicated servers. Start a private lobby and invite people or Start a public lobby and hope it fills.

I CAN'T MAKE A LOBBY.

The database error is not letting anyone log into the game in order to host a Lobby.

So I asked about a SERVER. Not a lobby.

Notice how steam has ZERO players in game right now? It's because the game is not letting anyone, under any circumstance, play.

So I am asking if anyone knows how to create a player-hosted server. I have a PC I can set aside as a server for the game.

There SHOULD be a way to set up a server, link the Server ID to the games database, so then the game skips over the "database error" and links up to the privately owned and run server to host lobby's from.

Gun Media is not supporting servers and the game is dead without one.

If anyone knows how to set up the architecture for a server, I will create one and host games on it.

The game is Peer to peer matches, You are the server. That is how it is. There is nothing you can do about it except understand and accept that if you want to do it, you need to cope with the database errors like every one else. Feel free to log into the game and leave a PC dedicated to a lobby running 24/7, If you can log into the database. What you're asking is skipping a fundamental aspect of game rights ownership. Buy out the game rights and start up servers. If you can't understand that then I am sorry to waste your precious time.

I know full and understand well what I am asking/suggesting.

I'm also not a newb at the game, or how games work, so there is no need to treat this post as if it were made by someone who is not familiar with the game, or how peer to peer networks work.

Gun Media has abandoned the game.

There is no active support to keep servers up and running. Total staff In their Lexington HQ is around 12 or 13 people, so they don't have the time, the motivation, desire or ability to support this game.

The database errors prior to 2021 took less than 4-6 hours to fix, and they were almost always handled by a single member of the staff.

The reason the data base errors now last for weeks and even months at a time is for the reasons I already mentioned: The game is abandoned, servers are non existent and the staff has moved on to other projects.

If/when staff has the time or motivation to fix the error (which is rare), they also have to justify taking one staff member of their tiny studio away from other projects.

Gun Media has abandoned the game. It is time to open it up for community based servers ala other online games.

But Camp Blood as I understand it USES the same Data Base. I haven't tried recently to play so I'm not sure but IF Camp Blood is using the same Data Base as the actual game you can't play that either online.... Update I just tried to play Camp Blood and NO GO they DO use the same data base as I'm getting the same Login error on there so playing Camp Blood is NOT a viable option.

I'm hunting around google and reddit, and not finding anything yet

FOUND a FIX and it worked for me. Once it fails,go into window mode video settings go to lower resolution till you can move the window around on your desktop. Hit RETRY then keep dragging the window around your desktop and viola you'll eventually connect.
