Friday 13th shutting down in 2024?

I just saw two articles explaining this game is shutting down and going bye bye, and won't be able to work? If that's the case since its popular amongst a lot of people don't you think refunds should be given. I know several people who bought dlc recently of the game.

Nothing was "fumbled" the license simply expired.

Any game that has a license tied to it, in this case Friday the 13th, you have to pay for the right to use it. Same with Star Trek, it was also delisted and it's one of the rarest games on Steam.

definately fumbled, it could have been database intependent before license expired like many other games. just as dedicated servers were able to be removed, but im tired of advocating for this game not many else seem to care, i would just have liked the ability to fire it up a few years down the road and get a group of friends together for a game even if the playerbase was dead, we could assign a host, files could be local and we could all pair up, but oh well

Will this end up like battleborn and evolve. Battleborn cannot even play it offline game is useless while evolve legacy can be played with bots. What about F13 offline mode with bots? Still playable after 2024?

I think something similar happened to Mortal Kombat (2009) i bought that game back in the day, i can install it but it's not longer available on steam, people said that the reason for being delisted was losing the rights to freddy and other famous characters available in the game (something like idk leather face, jason, freddy etc).

I wouldn't see why the offline bots, challenges, Virtual Cabin would quit working. The only thing is any CP or XP that you would get will not be saved anymore.

There hasn't been servers for years, they shut them down ages ago, the entire game is going away in 2024 and when that happens all your progress goes with it.

Gun does NOT own the game Horror Inc does.They own all the rights. They could have completely shut this game down a long time ago if they so chose to. Gun can no longer make any money off the game,they are losing it at only 5$ now. You are NOT getting a refund if you bought it recently.You should have done your research BEFORE purchase and known it was dying. That applies to ANY game you plan on buying,DO RESEARCH. Caveat Emptor. All the offline stuff SHOULD remain functional although you'll be limited to part 3 and part 5 and xp or cp won't work.

I just wanna say. I owned the game when it launched. I also stated it was friends buying stuff for the game not I. Some people aren't in the loop. Like a lot of people don't read the news bars on top of your steam section or lay in bed at night and go through google news. Merely making a statement perhaps for DLC, they shouldn't have sale and just cease the sale of that due to memes. But I'm a nice optimistic person, never said I was logical. Which this post is a couple of months ago.

I don't know if the Zay individual is meaning to sound hostile. But you are capitalizing words/points like you are trying to roleplay with me or anyone as a political party member.

And in case no one knows what Caveat Emptor is... its a principle in business that the consumer is responsible for checking the quality of goods before purchasing. Or "Let the buyer beware." Which funny enough is usually said about real property transactions. Doesn't apply to most consumer buys due to policy on returns.

It feels like a scam, because of backing it, and they knew the license was iffy. I knew it was iffy. But I backed it anyways. I'm not asking for a refund of a game I've owned for a while now. I just was hoping they'd cease selling due to the future of the game. Instead when I posted this they had a huge sale, and people bought dlc.

You'd think uhh..Darker than Dark, was that its name? Steam ceased 'being able to play it as soon as there was an issue that was in court. There is some other games as well they've turned off from being able to be purchased. I think Raccoon City was one of them? Or I would hope so. Not the same like reasoning but the game is unplayable but still being sold by capcom. xDD

I hope star citizen always keeps dragging my wallet on the ground but never comes out.

I'm not gonna argue that Steam should have taken it off sooner, Gun was lead to believe at least everything I've read that Horror Inc told them the rights dispute which they knew was coming would NOT affect the game.That was NOT true. Did they purposely lie to Gun? Unknown. So to accuse Gun of purposely scamming us is a very long stretch. My point about researching ANY product stands. The writing has been on the wall for this game for at least 2-3 years. If you are that ignorant or lazy not to read reviews and do some research before you purchase anything,then you get what you deserve. A rights dispute will NOT happen on Texas Chainsaw,they got EVERYONE involved that worked on the original movie.

Valve cannot remove games off of the platform that they did not develop or publish. Only the developers and publishers of games can remove them.
