Jason is a lot of things but definitely not a normal person.
BTW he cannot teleport 24/7 as he pleases.
Be a little bit more open minded. The devs read so much criticism already and they aren't dumb.
They'll know how to make it fun :)

Normal person = is not a demon :D

He's definitely some kind of supernatural being. That being said, AFAIK he can't sprint or anything. It's his skill so he can show up out of nowhere like he did in the films.

Sometimes things have to be made into fun gameplay mechanics, that simple really. It should have a long cooldown though IMO

The teleport has a cool down. Also with the sheer size of the maps, it takes Jason 7-8 minutes to walk from one end to the other in a straight line. Matches would be done by then if Jason couldn't teleport.

Also, Jason is pretty much akin to a person reborn as a revenent.

In all honesty, the "teleportation" makes sense. I mean, if you look back into the old movies, Jason voorhees as well as many other horror movie villains such as michael myers and freddy krueger "teleported". It added to the "jump scares" the movies had back in the day. So, just take this in stride and let the devs handle it. Trust them and everything should go along smoothly. And just remember, Jason Voorhees is a vengeful spirit, not really a human.

Did you watch the game play videos? Yeah it has a cool down, but it is like 2-3 seconds (I know I know they can change it) for the map teleport then he has a localized teleport that he can use immediately after that for the kill. See the opening kill here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=to_fWMlqORM

from second 35-39 he does a map teleport, followed by the localized teleport, by the time he is holding her by her throat his map teleport it back up, and by 49 seconds in (the time he finishes walking to the rock) his localized teleport is back up. They really need to make sure they add far more of a timeout between uses. Especially having two of them, a grand total of 14 seconds between 4 TPs is not enough (more like 5 each).

I mean it is going to come down to:

Jason TPs nearr someone, Jason locally TPs for the kill, Jason looks for next person using his sight which highlights where they are and the sound, Jason TPs to them, Jason Locally TPs for the kill, rinse repeat. Actually he essentially does that very thing with the first two kills in the video.

That gameplay your showing is Jason on a higher level. they have him on an "11". In the finished game its going to be alot different.
You unlock abilites as the game progresses, they are not unlocked right off the bat.
You only get on ability when the match starts.
Watch this video it explains this much more than i could.

This. They made him super OP for that video to showcase his abilities and some of the things that you can do in a short timeframe. They did say that the cooldowns are pretty long and won't be able to be used as continuously as in that video.

I think I heard they ramped him up by like 300% or something right?
vkmicro Sep 27, 2016 @ 7:43pm
wait for the release and see what they do with it :D i bet it'll be a good and well made game. Many things seem unbalanced and unfair when you watch a video of the game, but then when u play the game it's completely different feeling
SDevil Sep 28, 2016 @ 12:15am
I wasn't meaning that it was unfair in actual gameplay. I was getting at the idea that they ramped Jason up 300% for the video and are definately planning on scaling him back before launch.1

In the movies Jason lost his humanity when he was revived from death. In Blood Moon, Jason lost his humanity at birth when his father let a demon enter him. Jason was never meant to be normal.

Side note though, I know the whole smoke thing is a placeholder but I hope whatever they replace it with is good.

We're working quite a bit on the effect and how it goes. We likely won't remove it.

If it's a decision of what to use I think a water mist would be awesome. Mayne even include one of the symnols from the VC knot chart anchored in the center glowing red and fading in/out with the mist. Some cool sound effects could be tied into something like that.
