Evolution of Jason

Ok so, firstly I haven't seen very much of the movies(I believe I've seen the first part of the first movie, the beginning of the one where the guy fakes being impaled w/a pitchfork then later he is for real, the ending of FvJ, and a good bit of Jason X).

Now, Pt. 2 has sort of a inbred mutant vibe going on, what with the giant 7-8ft. height, and (once his sack is off) the face of Sloth from the Goonies, except his head isnt an eggplant.

Pt. 3 looks Relatively normal, with the exception of the creases on his neck and his face, yet from my perception, he seemed to lose height from his previous incarnation.

Pt. 6(why isnt pt. 4 or pt. 5 in the game? would anyone mind pointing out a reason?) if I remember what I read somewhere was revived by lightning in his grave(and the "spear" is what the lightning hit) makes sense b/c his skin looks charred from the lightning and general rotting/decomposition of his corpse.

Pt. 7, was if I remember correctly Jason rising from the lake b/c i assume the chain around his neck was connected to something in Pt. 6? This one also makes sense b/c not only is he a rotting corpse, but the water wouldve sped up the decomposition process which is why he has bones and sh*t revealed and why he (in my opinion) is the coolest Jason of them all.

Now, Pt. 8 looks much like pt. 6, yet Pt. 7 had huge chunks of skin falling off to the point his spine and back of his ribcage was exposed. I would assume that detail is rendered obsolete by his new clothing, yet what about his head? I remember there being huge scars on his head(one even goes into the mask) and the side of his face looking all muscle-y and stuff what with the facial skin gone. Now he looks like he regrew his skin, and he just got hit by lightning again. Can anyone explain what happened here? Or is it just a continuity error the original filmmakers overlooked or (seeing as I've heard the last few F13 movies wern't exactly quality cinema) just didn't give a S*it about?

And again, Pt. 9 looks like a burn victim, yet his skin is colored as if he used to have normal apricot colored skin, yet Pt. 8 has the blackened charred skin. Or was pt. 9 the "Back from Hell" Jason? If so, then I would assume Jason had his body restored in Hell only for his new skin to be burned, which if so would make sense.

My main problem is the design transition of Pt. 2 Jason to Pt. 3 Jason, and from Pt. 7 Jason to Pt. 8 Jason, and while I understand that the Game Devs based the multiple Jasons off of the movies they were from, I am wondering what the canon explanation is for this in the Movie's perspective.

Damn, can't believe I wrote so much. At least I spaced it out so y'all can more easily read it. Any clarification can be appreciated(Also clarification on why pt. 4 and 5 arent included). Thanks in advance.

Part IV isn't in the game because it's basically part III with the mask damaged by an axe on the previous movie.

Part V isn't in the game, because he isn't actually Jason.

Part VI actually doesn't have a spear, but a fence post from the graveyard he was in and Tommy Jarvis used to stab his corpse.

Part VII has the chain around his neck becuase Tommy Jarvis used it in Part VI attached to some stone to drown him, yeah.

Part VIII was yet again reserrected from being drowned, yeah.

Part IX is the Jason goes to Hell one, though he wasn't yet sent to hell. In fact, I think you mean Savini Jason, which is a completely new Jason designed for the game by Tom Savini, and is how he imagines a Jason back from hell would look like.


As for the explanations in the design changes.

Well, Part II Jason (the sack one) was the first adult Jason to be seen in the movies, and it wasn't directed by the original director, Sean S. Cunningham. Also, Tom Savini (who was in charge of FX and created the looks for the child Jason) wasn't involved in this movie. So they basically had to imagine what Jason could look like based on the child Jason seen in Part I and the fact that his mother was dead and he had to survive in the wild.

I don't know why he was redesigned for Part III, maybe to make him look less hillbilly. Anyways, this is the movie where he first gets his signature hockey mask.

As for the rest of the movies, they usually have continuity, and also each one resumes the previous one at the beginning, up until Part VII.

So, basically Jason survives Part II and III, then he is killed by Tommy Jarvis on Part IV, he doesn't appear on Part V, and then he is resurrected in Part VI, then drowned again and resurrected on Part VII again.

Thats why it has that rotten aspect from Part VI on, because it's the "zombie"Jason.

If I remember correctly, after Part VII the franchise was run by New Line Cinema instead of Paramount, and the franchise started decaying, continuity was lost in the sense that Jason was alive without any explanation, also, Part IX Jason Goes to Hell is a giant train wreck....but anyways.


Also, there has been several actors who gave live to Jason, hence the height changes you noticed.

Ahh ok, thanks a bunch for clearing this up. And for pt.9 I was thinking the movie was Jason returning from hell, hence the burns on him. And I did know Savini Jason was suppossed to be a "Demon Jason" version.

Oh, another question if I may. If the killer in F13 Pt. 1 was Pamela, and she kills the councilors in revenge for Jason drowning, how does he appear in Pt. 2?

Because all the councelors don't die in part 1. He comes back in part 2 and kills the girl that escaped from the first movie. He then makes it his mission to seek revenge on all teenagers who invade his lake and or camp area. And from the original poster, he isn't tall in part 2 he's average height. He doesn't become a hulking ogre until part 3. He even stays human up until part 6 when a lightning bolt brings him back as an undead monster.

I think the easiest answer is that it's because they wanted to continue the history and the killer from the first movie was already dead, so they had to correct/change the script so Jason did survive the Crystal Lake accident and grew up in the wilds.

Part IX look like a burnt human is because he drowned in toxic waste. You can see it in the ending of Part VIII, but he never turned back into a kid, it was all in the main girl mind to think he went back to normal, so after he awoke from the toxic waste he found his mask and went back to his camp. Part IX is my favorite designed of Jason, second is Part VIII.
Also he goes to hell at the end and he came back as Tom's Jason.

Tom Savini and some other people involved with Friday the 13th part 1 publicly commented on how stupid it was that Jason was still alive in part 2 saying that if he'd just told his mom he was alive then the murders wouldn't have happened. It's not like he didn't know where Camp Crystal Lake was.

He's alive because someone used the book of dead on Jason. A Evil supernatural force connected to him.
