Vanessa with 7 or 8 speed and those two speed points given to another stat set would make her god-like. Instead, she's very close to that already. Not the absolute best because she can't break Jason's grabs at all which means no margin for error, but she's easily the 2nd best character in the game. You won't get much argument from me there. For me, she's the best speed/repair character available. I rarely miss her skill checks and her recovery is fast despite a 2 rating.
Breaking grabs is completely pointless anyways. You either get saved by another Counselor, or you die.
Even an Adam with an Epic Escape Artist can't break grabs fast enough.
Because they KNOW they can break grabs, so they kill them quick.
And did you seriously say Jenny is better than Vanessa? And the best Counselor? .......I don't know about life anymore...
I have played with 3 through 10 speed characters, and I have found that rarely, if ever, did Jason catch me because I was too slow. It was always because he slashed me down, grabbed me, or darted me from a distance from a lack of stamina or not paying attention and letting him getting too close in the first place. The stamina is very important, so Vanessa scores huge points there. But her speed is far too fast, when those extra speed points could go to other areas to make her even stronger. She can't break away from Jason once grabbed to save her life, so she's dead once caught without a knife.
Now I give you Jenny. She is Jason's worst nightmare and Part 7's "Tina Kryptonite" to Jason under the right person and perks. They call her the "Final Girl" for many reasons, and it's not just because she modeled like Chris from Part III, even though that's true too. She has a 5 stamina, which is just good enough to get away from Jason from house to house early on in this game, but that's just the beginning as stamina perks turn her into a long-range jogger. She can also break multiple Jason grabs (1-2 times every match), and as high as 3-4 times if you use the 15 %escape artist perk. Trust me, you wanna live and this is the way to do it.
The other two perks you should run are two of these three: Medic (Epic 2 sprays, 10% healing boost), Stamina Recharge (15% Epic) and Marathon (15% Epic). You will be unstoppable as she has other hidden modifiers not listed beside her character profile that boost her abilities/stats in the game such as her stamina recharge after hitting Jason and some of her stun increases. Other vital stats such as high stealth help her early on in matches not make as many, nor as loud noise bubbles on Jason's sense cone, so this buys you invaluable time early in the game or when Jason is looking for you in a house while you recharge stamina.
Because of Jenny's effectively high luck/composure stats that overwhelm her other "weaknesses", and the fact she can easily Forrest Gump" Jason to his beleaguered knees in 20 min of playing Tom and Jerry, I believe she is the best counselor in the game when given the perks I listed above. Now that I see how she plays, she is the "Final Girl" in almost every match I play now. I finally understand what the devs were talking about all along.
He can Repair much faster.
He can run faster (as Speed IS one of the best stats in the game).
He can break grabs faster.
Jenny is not good. She is literally bottom tier.
Any Jason with a brain will insta kill a Jenny/Adam when they grab them. If they don't, then they are a new player that doesn't know their stats.
You are overestimating Jenny.
She doesn't have "hidden modifiers". Getting stamina from hitting Jason is from Luck.
She has low Stealth. Have you played on the other end? Jenny takes elephant steps. You can see her pings from miles away.
And I don't know where this "stun increases" thing comes from. Jenny is bottom of the barrel when it comes to stun chance.
Watch your HUD to see what I'm talking about. This is a huge chance to gather important items instead of running for your life. I also didn't mention that if you need increased repair, just use the poor (gray) speed demon perk which slows down your repair speed by (11% or more), which enhances your character repair. Jenny with stamina, composure, repair, and luck is a tough, tough outing. I can make it very hard on Jason and last longer with Jenny and those 3 perks (Marathon, Stamina Regen, Medic) than Vanessa with any combination of maxed out perks. No matter what I do to Vanessa, I can't change the fact that I can live longer each match and escape from Jason's clutches with a max-perk Jenny.
I take Lachappa out for when i want to meme. Nothing funnier than juking a Jason or beating his ass with Lachappa. He even beats Chad in that regard. All of this is because he's extremely difficult to play as if you try to fight or juke Jason the entire match.
AJ and Tiffany make pings on the mini-map when they jog. But they both make 0 pings to Jason.
Gather items? And then what? Take half the match moving them to where they need to be? Play Tiffany if you're going to do that and want Stealth. Jenny will literally take forever.
Vanessa will always last longer than a Jenny if put in the hands of equally skilled Counselor players. They both have similar durability on their weapons. Vanessa can still out-jog ANY Jason. So she is using less stamina for sprinting (which means she can ditch Marathon and use another perk).
I like Jenny. I think she is a cool character (other than her TERRIBLE voice actress), but she just sucks. It's not her fault though, Composure is just bad, and she is way too slow.
I just took on a running Part 5 and Part 3 Jason (two different matches) with Jenny and with an occasional boost of the shift key to keep her ahead of Jason's grasp, you can continue to jog ahead of him with no problems. It's so infuriating to the Jason player, and so satisfying to watch. You've been reading too many message boards if you think he's going to run her or LaChappa down. The Jasons are faster, but not noticeably enough to change your routine.
As great as Vanessa is as a player (#1 or #2 in the game outright), she can be bettered for survivability by Jenny with more effective perks toward her weaknesses that make her a more complete, survivor.
I never thought Vanessa could be bested, but Jenny under the right perk rolls is a more complete survivor. Again, it all goes back to those perk rolls to make that happen.
If you don't enhance Jenny, then Vanessa is your outright survival champion.
