The new update that they've added has added more bugs than they've fixed, but the update is on console only, they're working on ''fixing'' it.
There is no cease and desist order. In fact, go read their statements. They are incredibly vague. But if there WAS a cease and desist, then the servers would likely be shut down, and they sure as hell wouldn't be allowed to release on a new console. The idea that anything they've done up to a cease and desist is cool doesn't make any sense. A cease and desist is a legal term about stopping illegal activity and not resuming that activity. Releasing on new consoles, marketing for, and selling this game are not ceasing nor desisting.
We have no idea what they were told, but it is highly unlikely they were told to keep selling the game "but don't make any new content." The lawsuit would impact anything they've already made or will make.
Why don't you explain it to me? Clearly I've read those articles. Nothing in the articles said they were forced to stop. Also, the rights that this studio had vs. what the puzzle devs had are likely completely different.
Both devs, my guess, were advised to stop. Nothing formal, just legal advice. Releasing more content isn't illegal, it's advice. Releasing on the Switch? Probably went against the advice to make some extra cash. Releasing Jason X and those maps? They could do that if they wanted too, but it might open the floodgates of WHY they don't just keep developing more content and actively adding to the game at that point. A game they clearly don't care about.
The rights belonging to miller IS NOT RETROACTIVE. They will sell the old movies in stores... but no NEW movies/game content can come until appeals are over. Then whoever has the rights must give the ok. The switch release is NOT new conrent... its rerelease. Again... the suit is NOT RETROACTIVE.
Short answer: no. No new content ever for this game. The only time gun media could is years after appeals process ends or a settlement is reached... but even then they WONT. They are free to redistribute what already exists.
