Friday the 13th: The Game

Jason's Grab Nerfed Way To Much.
Yeah, literally right next to a player or on top of them and he misses, I used to play Jason a lot when the game was first released but I got tired of all the whiners calling you a tryhard or a slasher or whatever slang term when they were beaten 8/8. It just got tired and playing Jason so much after a long time gets old too. I got the nerf because if people complain about it enough then you will nerf it in a multiplayer game, but fact is people just do not like to get got and that is where those complaints came from, I never saw anything wrong with Jasons grab to begin with. His reach was greatly exaggerated. Report on it though and whine on it enough though and they will nerf something or buff something regardless of whatever it is, and usually its a nerf in this game because of the amount of people that are just not good at the game but think they are so they find things to complain about how Jason is too OP etc, he should have been left the way he was, his shift+grab was not a bug. He is meant to be severely OP and counselors should not get away on a regular basis, maybe a few or a couple but lets be honest here since this patch was dropped I have been in so many games where 7/7 are escaping on the regular, I was up against a Savini Jason just last night and he knew what he was doing but kept missing me because the grab was nerfed so hard, I felt bad for the guy because he was good with Jason, so after like the fifth time I Just stopped and let him get the deserved kill, nerfing it that hard is taking deserved kills from people that play Jason well, and this is coming from a person that plays a counselor 95 percent of the time now.

Edit: Lots of good input so far, feel free to leave your opinions whether everyone agrees with them or not, lets just try and stay away from the trolling and be nice to each other while disagreeing at the same time. Thanks!

Um. What? Yes, he should require skill.

I agree that he should be slightly OP. But he should take skill to be able to get 8/8 kills.

If you get even ONE kill as Jason, you technically "win". Jason's job is to kill people. And killing even one person means you're doing that job.

It should take skill to be able to clear a lobby.

The problem is that many people are abusing clearlly nerfed way too much grab range. The cone is also too narrow. Plus many people are stunning Jason through windows which is clearly abusing game mechanics. Playis as a counsellor is way to easy now, the game basicly hold your hand. Items are marked on map, Jason has trouble getting you and you can gang up on him with others with thick skin and whole party having medic perks as well. Killin one argument does not hold water, because in order to emulate the movie experience 1 max 2 people should be able to escape and on smaller maps objectives are getting done so fast there is no time for your abilities to recharge and to keep track on all of them. What is more Jason before the "windows breaking mechanic", grab "fix" and also blocking "fix" was so satisfying to control. Not it is clunky as hell. Being Jason should be a reward for all the abuse you are getting 90% of the time being counsellor from other Jasons. You should feel like you are the boss od Crystal Lake camp not like a joke to be trolled all the time by "Chad + Vanessa" combo.
I don't think being hit through a window is a mechanic being abused. If you're on the other side of a window of all things, I should be able to hit you through a broken window. It's realistic, however I do feel that the prompt to break a window is a bit much, you should be able to do it as you please. Also, I agree being counselor is too easy now, and that marked items are a bit of a handicap or crutch, however It's nice to know where items are. Even though I know it breaks immersion, maybe we can add a 15 second marker to where the item is on the map before it dissappears again. That would seem like a good solution, and yes people do abuse the narrowed cone now, however it could arguably be that players are gaining more skill as a counselor and are now able to effectively fight against jason. And yes the Chad and Vanessa's are annoying. But I think this is also putting Jason at fault because I suggest he actually work on Isolating counselors and picking them off, rather than camping a car with a whole group. Because then you'd just be asking for it, also while Jason is OP(or used to be) he is not completely invincible,so choose when to make yourself known, develop strategies, and learn to be a bit more careful because against a competent group of counselors, you can be killed.

I have no problem adjusting to new mechanics and still I do manage to kill most people. My gripe with this update is that it encourages slashing way too much and yet it is also broken. Hits with a weapon do not register sometimes. Game promotes enviromental kills and grab kills and with this update it is not the case - why should anyone bother with grab kills anymore or enviromental ones? As for stunning you while breaking windows, I do not agree, because because of this E prompt Jason is pullet too close to break a window, also counsellors climbing through window cannot be hit because of this "invisible force" that pushes Jason away - is that fair? Many Jasons are also terrible because of this update - Part VII, Part VI with his low dmg is laughable. Items marked on map is a good thing but another thing stem from it - the gameplay is much faster and Jason's abilities need time to recharge. As I said on small maps this is a big problem, because some Jasons do not apply any sort of map pressure to guard objectives. Vanessa+Chad+Tommy combo happens to me all the time. As I said before in one topic - you should never be encouraged to fight Jason - you should run. Fighting Jason should be last resort. I was called a 'noob' because this isn't stealth game. LOL. Well this is not Mortal Kombat: Friday 13th Edition as well. The focus of the game shifted from doing objectives and staying alive to trolling Jason players with one differance that back in the days trolling Jason required some skill and now it doesn't.

I just played against a Jason who shift grabbed everyone. I'm not even mad, more impressed by his skills. His name was Nitsua, if anyone wants to praise him.

I hate saying this but: You guys complaining need to get good. If you can't get good, slash instead.
It seems you're forgetting the premise of the game. Jason is supposed to be overpowered and isn't supposed to require a high skill requirement.

I'm sorry but telling people to either "git gud" or just start slashing is nothing short of lazy. You're telling people to ignore something that is fundamentally broken.

Think about it. Jason is slow and the only way he can slash is if he corners someone. What about out in the woods? Shift and grab is no longer a viable option, but it's the only one we got. If you miss that small time window to grab them then they just run off until your shift recharges.

Oh, and good for that guy who managed to shift grab everyone. Too bad the game does not only depend on skill. It also depends on latency...so there's that.

You don't deserve to 8/8. You earn 8/8 kills.

It's already overpowered that a total noob can at least get 4/8 kills in a match on average.

Only people without brain cells get less than 4/8 though.

I rarely play Jason. I just leave most of the time when I get him. And I can still on average get 5 kills.

Trolling Jason doesn't require skill?

Just pick up a throwing knife and learn to aim on the fast runners. Or get em when they're going through a window.

Honestly Jason is easy. Most people just haven't had the chance to get good with him because you don't get to be Jason much.

I literally told you to throw them when they're climbing through the window. Can you block while climbing through the window?

It's easier than before because the game is balanced now. It requires more skill to be Jason, but a Jason with skill can stand up to a group of formidable counselors.
Jason's grab is legit still ridiculous. He can grab you from 8 feet away still. Vacuums are still common.

But you don't see counselors complaining. It's just people who can't play Jason who think they're entitled to kills.

Umm...no not really. A group of formidable counselors can easily gang up on Jason and just keep knocking him down. It's happened many times on both ends for me.

Yes you can damage them with a knife so why shouldn't you be able to just swing your weapon? What is this "force field bubble" horse dung? Every option should be viable and the game is far from being balanced right now. They have already said that next update won't be balance oriented - just new content and bug fixes, however, another one will be. I am not saying bring Jason's old grab back but some adjusting has to be made to the cone and his weapon range. It is weird when you swing someone next to you and hits do not register at all yet they should. Plus many times I know Jason should have grabbed me and he didn't because the grab is bad now. Also the lag is a huge factor, right now you need to have perfect Internet connection to land perfect spot on shift-grabs and as Kyzee said before bad ping causes delay so it is nearly impossible to do so or far to easy to do, all depends.

I agree. You must have played with miltoasts not to be stunned all over again. There is nothing you can do just teleport away from such team and Jason should never run away.

"tight"? He had 6 foot range vacuum hands. How is that not frustrating to play against as a Counselor?

I find him to be MUCH more smooth to play with.

Controls do not equal grab range. Plus I said I do not want the grab range to be reverted back to what it was only adjusted. The cone is bad and range is slightly off. He is not smooth if you are pulled towards windows agains your will to break them because of E prompt it was better before.
