Jason is not overpowered at all if the person using him isn't that good.
That said, the game is still being tweaked and will continue to be worked on after release.
Also, Jason gets chosen randomly so you can be Jason. There are no "survivor mains" or "killer mains" in this game. It's luck of the draw so you never know what kind of a Jason you're going up against and what level of play the Jason is at. Plus, counselors can fight back against Jason in a number of ways. They can melee him and stun him, they can shoot him to instantly stun him and they can trap him with traps as well as other "features" that weren't announced yet and weren't in the beta. So you do still stand a chance against a Jason, however the only time he will definitely find you is if you're out in the open with high terror, making a lot of noise so he can see you clearly with his senses. If you're inside with high terror or making noise(Even when not inside) only the entire building lights up, not your exact location.
If you play Jason you feel he definitely needs the abilities to make him more fun to play but the cooldowns do need a tweek. In some cases he can just spam teleport too easily even if he ♥♥♥♥♥ up. It got fixed/nerfed quite hard in the beta to the point he can't teleport with pin point accuracy plus he's really slow in the game so the counselors have a headstart on Jason and can create distance from the start if they have enough stamina so it's not a point of Jason being incredibly OP as, if you're smart, you can create distance and you can hide from him if you manage your terror(Keep with one other person at all times, hold a weapon, keep the power and lights on, stay away from Jason and try to stay indoors while balancing your indoors time with outdoors -- Jason can see a house light up if players are camping in or around it).
Maybe if you're bad and using Jason 7...
I always got alll counselors. It was pretty easy to the point people who played with me were saying good luck trying to escape if I became Jason(Hit the generators first, check the phones and keep your ears peeled and look for any sign of counselor activity like locked doors, etc.). The only time there were issues is with Jason 7 who was too slow and could be easily juked with window spam... Plus Tommy Jarvis was broken af and could run rings around Jason all game with the amount of stamina and speed he had.
I think the the whole teleporting around is just a bad idea...and that "run" Jason does is a laugh..Jason never ran he did that Hard power walk.
Go watch part 2, 3 and the final chapter again.
I don't need to rewatch them ..i know he never ran i saw them all untill they jumped the shark after prt3 ..Jason invented that power walk that put the horror in all Hollywood killers
Well, watch them again because he ran in those 3 movies I mentionned.
Lol now you know well that when those kids ran from Jason..no mater how fast they ran in the woods..they would turn around and that ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ would catch up to them in his bad ass Power walk
