Tom Savini Jason May Be the Best of Them All (Observations)

If you'll give me a few moments of your time, I think you'll be even more stoked for May 26th concerning the new Friday the 13th Game:

During the newly released Tom Savini Jason reveal video, this new Jason power walked (not ran) past the cabin windows at a much faster clip than any Jason before him - noticeably much faster. That haunting "Jason Back From Hell" theme is playing the entire time to ramp up the fear and anxiety, and it could not be any more creepier.

Once Jason makes his way around the side of the house looking for AJ Mason inside the fortified cabin, he destroys the locked and barricaded cabin front door with just one swoop of his trident where other weapons would normally take 5-7 swipes to get the door and barricade down. Once out back, Jason proceeds to throw two distinctively white, rectangular blades at AJ (Level 10 Stealth) who bolted the house and was hiding out back behind a rock. He saw her any way.

These new Savini Jason projectiles do not resemble the daggers used by Jason 6 when Chad gets run over by that car full of escapers in that Misfits song reveal video, nor do they look anything like the throwing dart Jason is reaching for lodged up high in the post from the Twitter picture reveal. These new projectiles make a distinctive metallic sound when they go whirring past.

Jason narrowly misses AJ's face by inches in the first throw and as she turns to run away, you can hear a 2nd one land behind her nearby on the ground that makes a soggy noise. It's not a dagger, it's not a dart lodged way up a post that Jason can reach, but I believe this to be an exclusive to this new version of Jason. I am unsure if it inflicts more damage, but it's almost certainly a new throwing object with added sound effects and may even be slightly easier to "aim and maim" counselors with.

At this point a still-fresh AJ runs to the nearest cabin and grabs an ax on top of a coffee table and turns around to fortify the door from an approaching, searingly hot Jason. It's already too late for her. That Savini Jason had already shifted the full 40 yards inside the open cabin door and behind her for the death choke with the camera in full sight of the open door. You couldn't even see him shift through the entrance!! It's not enough any more to simply outrun this monster alone.

There are other oddities and newfound discoveries I found in that video such as a rapid recovery from a flare to his face in the destroyed doorway and beneficial repeated grasp attempts, but I mainly wanted to highlight these character areas first with everyone and go from there.

Savini Jason appears to be the fastest power walker and shifter to date of all the Jasons. Grip strength also appears to be brutish as he never allows her to escape his extended grasp at any length of time. This version of Jason may have other powers (less stun time? less hit points?) to go with rapid recharges. In the beta, all Jasons shifted 20-25 yards at most, but this version can easily go double that distance.

It certainly makes you wonder what other abilities "Jason Back From Hell" will have in the final build. I don't expect him to be overly powerful when he is used on every level for obvious reasons, but I do anticipate that he will have some extras to make him stand alone and be slightly advantageous to the other Jasons against certain counselor groupings for those that bought him during pre-order. This version is scarily effective in everything I've seen so far.

Again, he won't be God Mode like in all situations, but this new Savini Jason will be a greater force to deal with than some of the other Jason models for many visual reasons shown to this point. Any banished soul in hell who can butcher Lucifer, take the trident pitchfork from his sinking hands, and find his way back home has my ultimate fear and respect.
