How do I drop handheld items such as the gas and car battery with an Xbox One controller?

I've started playing Tiff and her repair stat is really bad, how do I drop stuff so other people can do it instead? Thanks

I have it only mentions how to drop pocket items like the car keys

I'd assume it's the same button but a long press aka hold the button instead of tapping
